waltzing pig?

Homeslice 08-04-2010 01:27 PM

Only 442 I would take is a mid/late 80's one. Sure they were slow, but they were 10 times better looking. And anything can be made fast.

defector 08-04-2010 02:41 PM

Any 442 from '68 to '71 is :boobs:
Any other year, not so much IMO.

Yes, a 70 convertable with the 455 and a 4 speed would do nicely.

Avatard 08-04-2010 04:34 PM

The GM A-body 68-72 is my favorite muscle platform. I've gone through 3 of them.

I can make that seemingly ungainly turd perform utter ballet with a fucking stick.

Cutty72 08-04-2010 06:04 PM

Yeah, whenever I get the time and money I'm gonna make this a bit more like the 442. Hood/decklid/bumpers, might even drop in the 455 Rocket. We shall see when the time comes.

Hrm I'm in the market for some mid eighties american muscle. Looking for a distinctly different flavor though

WTF American muscle was there in the 80's?

Everything had fucking EGR on it. It was not a good time for muscle.

Even the Vette was doing 18 second quarters, and taking it in the ass from Country Squire station wagons of just a few years prior.

Buick GN? Mustang LX?

Avatard 08-04-2010 10:30 PM

Late 80s, they started to figure out how to make power again. Early 80s is a fucking wasteland.

agreed. the imported euro 4's were terrible, things got a lot more exciting when the big three figured out how to build their own small motors

Avatard 08-04-2010 10:37 PM

There was a cat that figured out that you could shoehorn a small block Chevy into a Fiero GT with almost entirely stock Chevy off-the-shelf parts.

A mid-engined V8 American sports car has its allure...a poor man's Pantera...

Not really muscle in my book. Sporty, yes.

pauldun170 08-06-2010 02:23 PM

Decent amount of cool 80's cars.

Only the delorean with the three rotor cosmo swap backed up by a porsche gearbox is cool. All the others have that awful v6

101lifts2 08-14-2010 09:15 PM

That thing handles better on the track than most Korean cars today. lol

This is a 1980s corvette(even if it didn't go on sale until fall 1989 as a 1990 model).

Avatard 08-16-2010 12:37 PM

I was referring to the mid 80's C3, which was doing 18 second quarter mile times, and could be easily dispatched by a 70's Caprice station wagon (replete with fake wood sides).

z06boy 08-16-2010 12:46 PM

18 second quarter mile Vette ? Even my 78 L48 was quicker than that. It was still slow but managed low 16's stock.

C3's were from 1968 to 1982

The mid 80's were the start of the C4 and were quicker than my C3...they were good for 14's I'm pretty sure.

Homeslice 12-13-2010 09:24 PM
