New Gap interwebz fun

The thieves topic has finally died down, now Jimbo is on the hot seat. This guy got caught really blowing a blind corner drifting and is now being net bashed on a couple sites. Pretty funny stuff.

lulz.

Mikey 10-01-2010 03:21 PM

I love all the asshats defending him by saying that a motorcyclist whose head crosses the center line is just as dangerous as a fast and furious wannabe who drifts across the whole road in a blind corner. :lol

the chi 10-01-2010 03:25 PM

Holy bejeesus.

Im still shocked at the pink rims tho...

the original mobile skin doesn't recognize links like the regular skin. I use that skin at work cause it doesn't really look as obivious to cube watchers.

the chi 10-01-2010 03:35 PM

bwahahaha...i refrained from mentioning that fail.

yeah, it's a good work skin that's for sure. It doesn't load any potentially bad images as well.

Trip 10-01-2010 03:43 PM

I wonder if it even recognizes link tags

edit: yep, [url] works in in original mobile.

Smittie61984 10-01-2010 03:46 PM

So what is exactly going on? Some guy from East Tn Riders is pissed that some Fast and Furious wannabe drifted? So the Tokyo Drifters are pissed off that they are getting called out and are comparing motorcyclists going slightly over hte line to some car going over the whtie line of the other side of the road?

Trip 10-01-2010 03:47 PM

pretty much, that's why it's funny

It it on EastTN too? I haven't been there in a while and need to check it out.

PS: the dude needs a bigger spoiler because it's obvious it didn't work well.

yeah, it's in gap news

People like him are the reason I have no desire to ride the Dragon. Especially with so many good roads right in my back yard.

It's all I think about at the Gap... Sure you can call this guy out but a lot of the local sport bike guys think nothing of taking the racing line at the Gap in blind corners. I had two close calls last rally.:panic: I wish there were some way they could make the "Dragon" a one way road using another route to get back to DMGR.

I like the area alot, in fact its on my shortlist of places to retire (NC Mountains), but there are many roads that are just as good and dont have nearly the traffic. It's nice to go there and check the block and get a picture and a tshirt other than that I like blood mountain much better.

not that I don't like the area... but if you like roads like that... just move out west into the country. there are tons like Blood Mountain... I doubt many if any like the Gap... but a lot more open space and less people...

western colorado would be phenomenal for that... and you have Utah right there.

That would be sick. Couldn't you take the Skyway to get back if you went East to West?

I think so...hold on.

Amber Lamps 10-02-2010 02:36 PM

Nope, not if you take the "Dragon"... There's a great route down 28, 129, etc but it's not the actual "Dragon". That part of the road runs you quite a ways out. I guess you could go around but it would be quite a trip for the locals... I guess it could be done, maybe just on the weekends?

Trip 10-02-2010 02:56 PM

Us129 is a federal highway, that won't ever happen.

101lifts2 10-02-2010 05:55 PM

I'm not sure about over there, but if you are constantly going over the double yellows where we ride, we will come up to your ass and tell you to stop or GTFO off the mountain. With bikes racing up and down we don't need any clowns causing head on collisions.

Typical big wing homos.....

Thankfully, I rarely see that here. Only stupid shit I've seen around here are sometimes when large groups of riders are racing up and down Blood Mountain - they will often be all over the road, racing each other up to show who has the biggest balls or whaterver. Fucking train wreck waiting to happen. If I come across those guys, I either wait them out and will ride up a few minutes after them, or will go the other way.

Particle Man 10-03-2010 08:58 PM

The local version of the 'Gap (much smaller) is the Illion Gorge. I have found Lee's strategy (just let 'em go and then ride) works best. Only problem is that I have to wait a lot

Some locals do that here. It just happens so often now because its so popular that locals now stay away except when the road isn't overrun with these people.

I always found with Blood Mountain is after a slow survery of the road once, you just chill at the bottom at 19 or at the Hippy Depot and wait for a large group of T-shirt wearing squids. I wait about 5 minutes then head out. No matter what they draw the cops.

28 Between Highlands and Bryson is one of my favorite roads. Cars even get out of the way for you there, even when I was just cruising!.

I would get in front of them...redflip

About three weeks ago some punk in an 600rr flew past me and Doug as we were sitting waiting for a car break. So....:redflip naturally we chased him and caught up. Doug and I tried to pass (the guy was actually moving pretty good), but he kept running wide and cars were coming the opposite direction. Then on this decreasing radius turn we call a carousel which is about 1/16 mile, I saw the dude was getting closer and closer to the outside. At the end of the carousel you need to flip a bitch to the right hard or you end up going straight into the mountain. Said 600rr did just that.

We felt kinda bad for riding his ass and pushing him...but the dude was a punk. He was ok...600rr was really messed up.

Yeah, at the bottom at the old Turner's Corner I'll sit and wait if I see them heading up. I'll have to check out 28 - I'm still finding new stretches of road to hit, and I'm not sure I've ridden that yet.

I went up 28 a month ago for a camping trip and if I recall the last posted speed limit was 55mph. Which if you maintained 55mph on that road you'd die.
