What would you buy....

So we all know what each other rides here, whether it be on the streets, or at the track. What I want to know is.... what do you WANT to ride???

Name the next 2-3 bikes you would buy, or are going to buy, if you were buying the bikes with your own money... (given the chance that you would have the money )

2003/4 CBR600RR - backroad carver/track bike
2007 GSX650F - baby tourer/street bike
And some sort of super cheap pit bike/supermoto

Then name 3-4 bikes you would buy if you happened to run into a good ammount of money (say $500,000) through a dead family member, lawsuit, bank robbery, etc.

2011 Ninja 1000 - street bike
Purpose built Daytona 675 race bike
2011 BMW K1600GTL - super touring
2010 RC8R - just whatever....

So, what do YOU want???

dReWpY 12-07-2010 08:19 PM

lets see....

own versys
wish KTM dual sport

own 636
wish 848

own older zx10
wish 2011 zx10

own older BMW
wish new kawi cruiser

Mikey 12-07-2010 08:42 PM

My next bike will probably be an FZ1 or Bandit 1200/1250. I'm getting old, and they seem to fit my style. I also tend to keep my bikes for quite a while- I bought my 636 brand new in November 20003. ;)

Homeslice 12-07-2010 08:46 PM

If I bought a second bike it would be a sport-tourer......Triumph Sprint ST most likely

Dave 12-07-2010 08:51 PM

2011 zx10r
Suzuki madura or equivalant dirt cheap muscle cruiser
Some old two stroke or cafe bike

Post lotto? How bout contracting vyrus to build me a one off hub centered superbike built around the aprilia v4?

Captain Morgan 12-07-2010 10:06 PM

Hmm, hope to eventually pick up a cheap track bike, as well as a dirt bike (or maybe more of a true dual sport).

If I won a shit ton of money... I'd pick up a cheap track bike, as well as a dirt bike (or maybe more of a true dual sport). I'd then spend extra money on track riding and dirt riding classes.

TYEster 12-07-2010 11:16 PM

3, yes 3, 2011 YZ250Fs in the blue/white scheme

And a Husky 510SMR or a MX 450 wide-ratio conversion supermotard for the road...

CasterTroy 12-08-2010 09:17 AM

My next realistic purchase?

Maybe another dirtbike

DREAM purchases?

All 2010 models (hey I've got $500k right? :idk: )

S1000RR track only
RMZ450 Motard track only
RMZ450 Dirt
KTM ADV 990 Street (with alaska survival package to keep up with Tracy)

With the remaining $450k I'd buy a dually from hell with a 5th wheel castle for track days

OneSickPsycho 12-08-2010 09:44 AM

Lately I've been lusting after the idea of hot rodding an old touring rig ala:
http://www.bikeexif.com/wp-content/u..._gold_wing.jpg

However, since I haven't even begun hacking into the Tiller, it's probably going to remain a pipe dream...

My next bike purchase will prolly be a little sportbike for the Mrs... 250 Ninja or the like...

If I hit the lottery tomorrow, Ducati would be making some money off of me... Streetfighter or the new Diavel, and a track dedicated 848 would probably be in my garage...

ontwo 12-08-2010 09:51 AM

It's hard to think about my "next" bike given that I don't have 200 miles on mine. But my next purchase will probably be a BMW sport tourer. Many years down the road.

As for post lottery, either an S1000RR or 1198.

Ditto on the ginormous hauler. I would also add a 500cc GP bike. Or possibly a few different pieces from raresportbikes.

Possibly one of these two and a cruiser such as a...

Victory Vegas Jackpot or a...

Harley V-Rod or one of the variations of the V-Rod or a...

Star Raider

Particle Man 12-08-2010 12:56 PM

Some kind of dual sport geared more toward touring or an actual sport/touring machine.

I already have my old ass R6. That probably isn't going anywhere since it isn't worth anything.
Without thinking about the order I'd like a street legalized 450 MX'r thats been supermotoed and a Yamaha Stratoliner for the next two.
I'd like to add an 1198 after those and maybe finish up with a Triumph Thruxton.

About the only difference between reality and non-reality (money falling in my lap) would be the speed with which they are purchased.

Oh yea, I forgot about a possible reality based purchase of a Daytona 600 or 650 versus the CBR that I've been looking to buy. But the CBR is so nice, just need to set it back to stock height.

Just love this paint combo with the rims.

Gonna have to keep that one for a while! Does it have a Mr. Fusion?

Well, I just got my FZ1 Labor Day weekend...finally...and I absolutely love the bike! I plan to hang on to it for quite a while.

But with money to burn I'd have a small stable.

I'd add a Ducati Streetfighter first, rode one last summer, it was a blast!

I'd probably get a GSXR 750 for the track and Troy's choice of accommodations too (Good pick Troy!)

I wouldn't mind having an FJR for touring on.

I would get a WR250X to squid around the local roads on too (or modify and try to tag a WR450 to a SM)

I'm sure I'd find more bikes to buy besides these, this is just the initial list, lol.

Aprilia RSV4 but I know I will never buy it.

LOL, I didn't even see it. I was really confused.

BTW, How do you like the FZ1? That's on my short list for next bike. Do you have any seat time on the Bandit 1250 or ZRX1200R for comparison?

Dude, I love the FZ1! I've not gotten to ride a Bandit or a ZRX so can't give you a comparison there, sorry. I can say that I've ridden quite a few supersports and it kills my back and wrists within an hour or 2 (I'm old, I'll admit it  ) I did over 400 miles on the FZ a month ago and while the seat got a little hard half way through, I can't complain about the riding position at all! It's everything I was expecting when I decided on one. Can ya tell I like it? lol

My buddies have one of each (and they are twins )

Both 07's.

My take:
Bandit 1250.
Very torquey off the bottom, never run out of low end, almost as good as a Vtwin but smoother, remains smooth all the way through to redline. Very comfortable, good seat, ergos and set about right, and decent wind protection. Cruises good with minimal vibes, whisper quiet (REALLY needs a pipe). He's averaging mid 40's for mileage riding semi aggressively.
I ran low 12's in the 1/4 on it at the track, couldn't hook up through 2nd gear due to the ST tires.

FZ1
Rather anemic off the bottom, power turns on around 6K (must be a Yamaha thing?) and the power REALLY comes on. Ergos not as good, I just couldn't get comfortable on it. Wind protection was marginal, not as good as the bandit IMO. Also cruise comfortably, but required more shifting due to lack of low end. He's averaging high 30's to low 40's for mileage with a similar riding style.
With that i got into the high 11's on the track, never really nailed the take off though.

FYI I was running 11 flats on my buell.

Hope that helps.

nhgunnut 12-12-2010 06:18 PM

I would love a Duc Streetfighter
or the or the V4 Ape Tuona

Tmall 12-12-2010 07:19 PM

I'm seriously considering changing over to dirt for a couple years. If so, a crf450x would probably be my choice.

If not, then some kind of upright. Maybe the new Buell? Maybe a Z1000?

Cutty72 12-12-2010 10:33 PM

Forgot to put mine in.

Busa or Sprint GT for commuting
848 for track
and keep my buell for being stupid.

Something dirt related for playing around home, but no idea what that would be.

THe stock gearing on the FZ1 is the culprit here. As simple as dropping the front sproket -1 to a 16 tooth makes a big difference in the bottom and mid-range. Adding a PCIII, slipon and a few other mods wakes up the motor a lot. I average around 35mpg back and forth to work but have a lot of lights once I get in town. I can get 40mpg riding a spirited pace on the back roads where I not in traffic.
With the 16 tooth sprocket I can putt around in traffic at 40 mph in 6th gear if I want.

marko138 12-13-2010 12:01 PM

What I want for my next rig:
HD Ultra Classic Electra Glide Limited.

What I will probly end up with:
My Buell XB12R

What I would most likely buy:
Buell XB12S Lightning
Triumph Speed Triple
HD XR1200

Money no object purchase:
Buell XBRR

wildchild 12-13-2010 12:18 PM

next bikes would be aprilia or ducati sport
something dirt flavored
and either a goldwing or harley bagger

Dnyce 12-13-2010 12:21 PM

$500k? id track my 750, buy a bmw, and buy a funnybike/pxm/pro stock style dragbike

realistically-a 03 gsxr 1000 or a 05 750.

I'm sure a few aftermarket goodies would really help both of these bikes, but I compared them both stock to stock.

fnfalman 12-13-2010 06:56 PM

Norton 961 Commando LE.

Why? Because she's sexy.

RedRider2k2 12-20-2010 10:48 AM

There's always ideas floating around in my head depending on what I see for sale.

Had thought about:
06 ZX14
06 or older Z1000
04/05 CBR 1000
2008 250 Ninja for the GF
Older 500 Ninja for the GF
05ish ZX10

If I won the lottery? Probably all of these plus some 2011s and exotics.

neebelung 12-20-2010 11:11 AM

2003-04 ZX6R 636 - Candy plansma blue - Just cus I've always loved those
Any late-model SV650S - Track toy
Any late-model Speed Triple - My dream bike (yeah, I like em big n naked)

Archren 12-20-2010 02:12 PM

First choice: Ducati Multistrada (the 2010+ models).

Since I can't afford any new(ish) bikes right now, that's my short list. Other than that... a motard or other bike I don't mind reserving for track days.

Pretty much agree exactly. Oh, and if I had tons of $$, I do LOVE the RSV4's and really like the MV Augusta.

Crazy 02-06-2011 11:31 AM

Sold my 05 SV650s in Sep 09 :td:

Been thinking about a new ride this spring... 08+ cbr or duc 848. depends on how big my bonus is :D

Tmall 02-06-2011 11:43 AM

Stuck to my word. Picked this up on the 29th of Jan.

I'm still waiting to see what Suzuki does with the next gen GSXR, otherwise I'll probably get the S1000R next. I've been looking at Quads as well and would like to get my 2004 LTZ400 back. I loved that rig and it pained me to let it go to move here.

Money is no object? Definitely the MV Augusta F4 R/Special edition what else?

I have the bike I want so buying something different doesn't apply.

If money was no object. I'd buy a Troy Bayliss Replica.
