zortness 02-28-2008 06:50 PM

Agreed. Track FTW.

I shall sit here and twiddle my thumbs for another two weeks until my next track day.

Closest tracks will still be frozen in 2 weeks... FYI..

DLIT 02-29-2008 04:32 AM

I had planned to track-only my bike. But my wife went and looked at the new 250R. So she'll be getting one and I'll beriding with her on the street until she's comfortable. Then I'm gonna suggest we both go track only.

How many times a year are you on the track ?

zortness 02-29-2008 04:10 PM

I try and get out there every other weekend. I ride every weekend, be it dirt or street.

r!der 02-29-2008 08:05 PM

I gotta try dirt. There's lots of dirt tracks around here. Maybe that'll keep me from going nuts in between trackdays.
What kind of dirt bike do you have? 2 Stroke?

zortness 02-29-2008 11:05 PM

I have a yzf426 and a KTM 250 SXF, both 4 strokes. I think I'm gunna get rid of the piano or turn it into a supermoto, the KTM is just too much fun to ride.

t-homo 03-01-2008 08:56 PM

I would love to track only, but that would mean I would need a track closer than 4 hours away and have a lot more money.

Mr Lefty 03-01-2008 09:18 PM

I'm hope'n to hit up my first track day next year... this year I've got too much going on in my 1 month riding season

r!der 03-01-2008 10:13 PM

You will love the track.
For me, it's track only. I actually have very little street riding experience, maybe 7K miles or so. As long as I can do about 15 track days a year, I'm happy!

Mr Lefty 03-01-2008 10:29 PM

see I don't think I could ever give up riding street... I think Sport touring is gonna be my thing though... (I say think cause I need to hit a track day) I love to do road trips as is... and I think the freedom of doing it on my bike will be FUCKING AWESOME!

god damn I can't wait for September!

r!der 03-01-2008 10:55 PM

I hear you. That's one thing I've always wanted to do. Go on a lonnnnnnnng road trip on a bike, ride nice country roads, far away twisties...away from traffic and idiot drivers.
Maybe/hopefully down the line.

zortness 03-02-2008 04:50 PM

I get my road trips in when I hit up track days or races that are far away. Miller is 8 hours, Buttonwillow is 7 hours, Laguna Seca is 12-14 hours. Nothing like packing a trailer full of bikes and a truck full of motorcycle addicts and hitting the road.

see I wanna do my road trips ON the bike

I'm in the process of plann'n a good sized one in September... not sure if I'll be able to hit all I have planned... but who knows :luck:

no shit! I'd be down to go and I've got enough time to take off too! (66.5 days of leave as of today)

marko138 03-03-2008 01:03 PM

Trust me fellas, Once you do a track day your outlook on street riding is COMPLETELY different.

Horrible excuse. If you really wanted to go, you would.
