Coolest workbench
http://www.swigerwoodworks.com/Bench%20For%20Sale.htm
and for $5500 you can have one just like it http://www.swigerwoodworks.com/images/Workbench_113.jpg |
Looks like a fetish torture bench. I personally wouldnt know anything about one of those.
|
Seriously. Why? I've already told you. The cheaper the better. Why would anyone buy that? Only for those with more money than brains.
|
What I find hilarious is that someone who wants/needs a workbench would buy one and not make it.

I'm building a new work bench this weekend to replace the old one I've been using for years thats too small, wobbly, and beat up. Especially since my workshop area has been upgraded from a 10x10 shed to a garage. I'm not going all out like this guy did on his, but would love to eventually. Building this one http://www.workbenchdesign.net/image...ch/wb_shot.jpg http://www.workbenchdesign.net/bench1.html I picked up a vice from harbor freight, perveyor of high quality tools earlier this week for $40, and a screw clamp for $5. After work tommorrow I'm going to buy the wood and maybe start on it at night or on friday morning. The workbench above is great, it really is a fantastic piece of art really, I would love to build something like it eventually, but it's way more than I would ever need. |

Speaking of building workbenches, I need to find a set of plans for a simple, but sturdy reloading bench.
So, Fred, between you and AMJ, who is the official Jewish carpenter of TWF? |
Did this bench last weekend with "leftovers" have a total of $60 invested, of course the laptop and speakers were stuff on hand.

I have built 2 workbenches and a simple cabinet since Christmas for my workshop and garage. My benches cost around $35 apiece except for the one in the garage that I used a clearance countertop that cost an extra $25. The cabinet was around $15, and I did all in less than 4 hours each. If you have a Home Depot close, check for cull lumber and save yourself some bucks.

Do you see me eyeballing workbench porn? Fuck no. If I can't accidentally gouge a hole in the fucking thing without worrying about it, it's not a workbench, it's furniture. Just to be clear, the idea is to make furniture ON the workbench, not the other way around. Actually though, since you brought it up, Jews make shitty carpenters. Why? Because no matter what measurement you give them, the assholes want half off. JC |

Hells yeh thats an awesome setup.
Anyways, I picked up the wood for the bench tonight, $65 in lumber, another $50 in hardware. Forgot to pick up the wheel casters. Gonna start cutting fingers tomorrow. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._6729657_n.jpg |
Ya'll and your fancy smancy work benches. Mine has served me well over the years.
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...ls026Small.jpg Even has attachments. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...ls032Small.jpg http://www.zuwharrie.com/gallery/alb...28Small%29.jpg Hell I even have mini work benches. Ya. The strap is there for a reason. http://www.zuwharrie.com/gallery/alb...28Small%29.jpg I got a great idea of putting two together. http://www.zuwharrie.com/gallery/alb...28Small%29.jpg |

There is a project that I'm working on where we have to do some demolition work. Inside the building there is a 10'x10' x 2" thick piece of plate with I-beams for legs that is about 36" tall. If I can get it out of the building easily, it's either going to our shop or our farm. If it's a bitch its going to the scrap yard.
At the house I just have a little bench that is some old butcher block that's like 4' x 2', in the garage. Usually it is loaded with stuff so it never sees any use. |
I actually got a little farther than this, in fact other than putting a wooden face on the vice, and bolting the top down it's done. It weighs about 200 lbs but with the four wheel casters it rolls pretty easily. I'll wheel it out tommorrow and take some better pictures. I'm still deciding if I want to raise it another few inches, it's just bellow hip height.
Here it is while I was gluing the tail vice on the front. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._5675435_n.jpg The whole table http://l22.sphotos.l3.fbcdn.net/hpho..._3512916_n.jpg The front vice http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._7399364_n.jpg The tail vice. The block on the left can pull right out and move over and drop into any one of the other holes along the front of the table. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._3158130_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._3572040_n.jpg |
