Walking dead season 2

http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/03/02/wa...n-two-details/

Quote:

With The Walking Dead coming out on DVD next week, the show’s writer-producer and original comic book’s creator Robert Kirkman answers some of our burning questions about the second season, the upcoming video game and more.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What makes the DVD a must buy for fans?
ROBERT KIRKMAN: There’s a lot of cool behind-the-scenes footage, we had a great guy on set every minute of every day to catch a lot of candid footage and it’s put into bunch of documentaries. Plus, of course, we have the six episodes.
I love that it’s coming out now instead of like some TV shows that put out the DVD right before the next season.
It always bugs me when I want to re-watch the last season of Lost but I can’t watch 22 episodes in the four days just before the new season starts. I understand that they do it for marketing reasons, but I wish they would give us more time.
Exactly. How are things going on season 2?
Great. We’re mapping out everything. We got a lot of cool ideas. Everyone here is mindful of how well received the first season was. We’re breaking our backs, story wise, to make sure the next season is twice is good, or three times as good, with a lot of twists and turns and pushing the envelop of what you can do on TV.
The first season alternated mainly between the camp site and Atlanta. What will the setting be for season 2?
I don’t know if I can go into that, but I know [showrunner Frank Darabont] has said we’re going to see Hershel’s farm. We’re looking to take some picturesque rural landscapes and playing with that and coming up with some cool zombie visuals. We’ll see some of the locations of the first season, but we’re going to mainly focus on breaking new ground. Oh, and we’re going to feature a lava planet.
Of course, the survivors have to stop at Mustafar. How much Rick vs. Shane drama is going to play into season 2?
That’s definitely the core dynamic that’s going on, but there’s a lot of other interesting stuff in the mix. We’re going to seeing a lot of Andrea and a lot more of Laurie.
How much is Frank Darabont writing/directing?
He’s focusing on writing. He’s in writers room every day. I’m writing some episodes and he’s writing some episodes. We’re trying to figure out what we’re doing with the directing right now. The logistics and also being big part of the writers room will limit his time.
Is the great Bear McCreary staying on as composer?
Yes.
And we still have to wait until October?
Yes, that’s pretty public at this point. That’s the target.
The Walking Dead will be at Comic-Con, I assume?
Oh yeah, indeed. We’re going to have a 12-foot-tall zombie costume
I’ve played through Left 4 Dead, so what will the upcoming Walking Dead video game bring new to the genre?
Left 4 Dead is much more focused on action. On of the key aspects of Walking Dead is it focuses on characters and the emotion, and that theme is very much alive in the game, and luckily with modern games you can actually do that.
Anything else you can tease to from about season 2?
We’ve been talking to [zombie effects master] Greg Nicotero a lot about some cool zombie stuff he has planned. As much as this show pushed the envelope of gore on TV, the joy of seeing the best zombies ever done on a TV show every week, all I can say you haven’t seen anything yet.

I read online that this season has a full 13 episodes.

I can't wait!

L8 Braker 03-07-2011 12:56 PM

I didn't watch any of last season until they had a marathon a few nights ago...I watched about 3 shows in a row...I fell asleep as they found out the guy on the roof had cut off his hand to escape...

I know I can IMDB or Wiki, but I'd rather hear personal reviews...Can someone please fill me in on how it started, and what I missed after the guy cut off his hand?

Guy on the roof cut his hand off is a somebody's brother.

In short, the zombies raided their camp, the hot chicks sister got infected, another goofey dude was infected, they trekked to the CDC, it blew up and that is how it ended first season :)

Seems like theres a lot they can do with soem of the loose ends from last year, and am totaly fine if it becomes darker. I felt there wasnt enough withthe zombies last season.

If you like origin stories, stop watching now. The creator is never going to give an origin.

Would be kind anice to see more of how it started but I am def interested to see where they go from the CDC. I also wonder what if anything thye will do about the helicopter he saw while going into atlanta. You would think theres still some sort of government or structure and not just pockets of people scavenging to survive.

Kaneman 07-19-2011 09:51 AM

Less drama bullshit, more zombie killing.

You are in for a disappointment, the story is all about the drama and emotion of the characters, not the zombies. Hell, they spend more time killing each other soon enough.

They go to a prison and kill off some of the main characters.

They don't do much of it.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. The creator is more about characters than zombie destruction.

Spoiler alert fuckers. I've been wanting to watch that. But Netflix doesn't have it nor does On Demand. And with the Blockbusters in Atlanta all shut down, it is starting to look like a Zombie town.

There are other options.

- Watch programmes that have hot women in them, but crappy content, the same way that Al Bundy did; with the sound off

- Download and watch shows from the UK or Australia. Sometimes this also requires turning the sound down.

- Read a book. This way, at least you'll get some sleep.

- RIDE YOUR BIKE.

LeeNetworX 10-11-2011 03:09 PM

Just a friendly reminder - Season 2 starts this Sunday. I was setting my DVR to record this yesterday and thought about this thread.

That's the entirity of the show. The show/comic isn't about Zombie killing, it's about telling the character's stories. That's why they will never go into what caused the Zombies.

If this pisses you off, I suggest you stop watching now.

My guess is it was some government virus that the government created and got out of control. If I remember correctly the doctor said something about entering day 1xx of operation wildfire and 60days or so of whatever he called the outbreak or where it reached hte public. Of course we'll probably never figure that out until it jumps the shark about 8th season. Which it'll probably take 8 seasons to tie up all of the loose ends they left us with.

I'm too fucking excited for this show. I never watched zombie movies until I am Legend came out (zombie like i guess) and the Walking Dead. Looks freaky.

Seems like soem stuff they leave open and you have to wonder what happens.

The helicopter he saw in the 1st episode
The man and his son who stayed in the town
The guy who hacked his hand off
The guy who was bitten and thye left in the woods.

there are plenty more than that too

Smittie61984 10-11-2011 04:54 PM

There was also the France thing and the whisper the doctor said into the sheriff. The family in birmingham and the blonde chick with maybe parents in Florida.

Also, did they really have to kill off the black chick? No one put much of a fuss over her staying.

I forgot that those other people left to go back there. Th eblack chick didnt realy seem to have much of a part in the show, could have done more with her I think

I've always loved zombie/apocalypse movies and this show is awesome because its like a zombie movie that doesn't stop. The movies focus on a core group of characters getting out of one larger predicament with a few small struggles along the way so they didn't have time to allow for a lot of character development and left the spot light on the killing. This is why I love this show because we will see the further development of the people that haven't died yet. I just hope the writing doesn't get too out of hand but AMC has good thought out story lines normally like with "Breaking Bad". Also looking forward to see "Hell on Wheels" next month

The only people on the show who aren't annoying drama queens are the sherrif, redneck, and the black guy (though he'll probably be killed off soon). The short haired bitch really annoys me. They should just kill her themselves becuase she'll end up getting them killed. Didn't even go after her own daughter. The old guy tries to play papa too much.

I'm excited for the next episides. Especially what the hell is giong on with the choppers from the previews. Must be some government function somewhere.

The asian kid seems to be just blending in now too, I thought the black guy was dead after he cut his arm. I remember the chopper from last season too, havent seen the previews yet, I think between that and the fact they heard the radio on that car (why they didnt keep it on or look for other stations is a mystery) that there is still soem sort of infrastructure, but thye just need to find it and get to it.

I did like how the sheriffs wife called out the other ladies in the end.

LeeNetworX 10-18-2011 12:59 PM

One of the better episodes of the show yet, IMO. Kept up a good pace throughout, it was tense, and watching the way the characters thought out their actions was entertaining. Great start to the season.

Forgot about the Asian guy. He's just quiet and there now. I actually worry he'll be killed soon.

I thought for sure the black guy was going to get it since black people get killed early in movies. Though they did off that one black chick. But it looks like they are developing the redneck into a more likable character than originally and wanted to show that by helping the guy who basicaly left his brother for a horrible death.

I took the radio as that everyone was dead and there wasn't any government functions anymore. That the thing was just stuck on a loop. Or maybe they heard that message before when the outbreak first started.

Is it Sunday yet?

The asian guy was key in rescuing the sheriff from the tank, he seems like a quiet guy now but is still useful. I agree withthe redneck seems like hes more of a team player now esp since hes leading the search for the girl. I am kinda thinking they dont find her which leads to the drama of them leaving her behind. I think th eold guy will just seem to hang on through all of this for some reason.

Papa_Complex 10-18-2011 01:20 PM

If they're playing it anything near to real life then the power grid would be dead in a matter of a few weeks, if not days. That means either there is viable infrastructure, of the station is on generator.

Kinda unrelated to the storyline, but was the squidbilly rilling on a parallel twin chopper?

Very true. Though you'd think the CDC would at least have a line out that would reach somebody. Not sure if the CDC is part of the DoD, but I'm guessing due to their biological weapons that the military wouldn't mind keeping some kind of line to them. Also the satellites would work on solar so they shoudl be able to reach those. Which was the car radio on satelite or FM? My 36" blows donkey balls for reading little details.

I guess I'll need to run to the store and pick up my zombie apocolypse gear just in case.

Union rules say get to work.

I think I'd try and head to rural bumblefuck Montana and live on top of a mountain. Or deep into the swamps. The alligators would have a field day with a bunch of slow ass zombies trying to trek through the mud.

Which reminds me, do any of the animals become zombies? I don't recall any. I wonder if that is explained.

Ideally you could have a cage (preferably something tough enough to withstand plowing through them, or keep them out if you find yourself surrounded) and a dirtbike on standby for quick escapes across terrain that wouldn't allow passage by larger vehicles (like that highway full of dead cars).
I mean, yeah, we all want to keep our arsenal & supplies with us, but you have to think that sometimes you might have to run away and hope you can come back and recover your stuff later.

I might load up a dirtbike, but I suck at riding dirt anyway. I'd be pimpin' some big 4WD somethingorother, with chains and spikes and shit all over it.

Oh, and 24" spinners with blades, like a Roman chariot. Trees, zombies, cannibals.... fuck 'em all up.

tommymac 10-19-2011 07:57 AM

That was another thing I didnt get theyre driving an old RV and SUV but they come up to all that traffic and there are many newer more capable/reliable vehicles why not take soem of them or even that water truck.

Papa_Complex 10-19-2011 07:59 AM

Driving to the nearest RV dealership and picking up a new Winnie wouldn't be a bad idea. Hell, they're all along I-75.

And throw some armour on those damned windows!

*EDIT* Oh, and I finally watched it last night. Cut your losses and shoot the blonde, and the mother with the short hair. Either one will eventually get you all killed.

Thats a good idea too. I would think by scavanging all those cars they would find more stuff than they could haul, or at least stuff that hasnt been picked at by others.

Which reminds me, do any of the animals become zombies? I don't recall any. I wonder if that is explained.

I would stick it out in my house for a while to see how we fare, as we are sort of rural, and most of the homeowners in my neighborhood own several weapons, so I think we'd have more living people than zombies. I also have a bit of natural barrier behind our property and the adjoining ones. Would place most focus to the front of the house and have several good vantage points to pick off zombies with my rifles.

As for the animals - very doubtful they would explain, as they haven't even explained the origin of the zombie 'infection'.

Not me, I live 3 miles from the CDC. I'm fucked if I stayed. THough I would probably camp out in my apartment and board that shit up.

For sure. The old man should have stabbed the girl with that screwdriver and the sheriff's wife should have slit that bitches throat. Can't have molly menopause freaking out and drawing attention by crying. No wonder that guy beat her.

Gated communities. Not just for keeping minorities out anymore.

We should set up a TWFix zombie meeting point. Just incase.

Look at Japan, my ass is getting to somewhere far, far, far away from any nuke plant if we are going to be eventually losing power to the cooling and we aren't feeding cool water to the spent fuel pool and whatever is left in the reactor.

If zombie apocalypse happened, we would need to shut down the plants as fast as possible and attempt to dry cask the fuckin place.

Steal an airplane and I'll come get you at Peachtree-Dekalb airport. It's right next to I-85. But we'll make it fast becuase it is next to another large operation of the CDC.

I don't know about that. Radioactive mutants might be immune to zombie disease.

Don't sully the scientific possibility of Zombies with silly things like radioactive mutants.

Have we learnt absolutely nothing from 1950s science fiction movies then?

Rangerscott 10-19-2011 07:49 PM

Better carry a long long hose and pump so you can get fuel at stations.

defector 10-19-2011 08:17 PM

So what are the theories about what the Dr. whispered to the Sheriff at the CDC?

I'm guessing something about Fort Benning.

Blood tests he requested turned up a baby? Isn't that one rumor that was floating around?

That was my wife's guess. Mine was that the zombies were originally created at the CDC.

I was thinking that maybe the CIA finally got something right, but that doesn't make for a very plausible story line.

Look, we get it, you read the series. :nee:
I felt the same way with people speculating and acting shocked about stuff that happened in 'A Game of Thrones'

I am actually kinda interested to see where they go with the TV show. The TV show is so slow developing and the comic story is so far ahead, I wonder what will happen if they continue to follow the story arch or branch off from the comic story altogether. I am kinda done with the comic.

I wouldn't let a 12 year old read this comic. It's pretty gory and disturbing. Take this dude Phillip for exampe, The Governor is pretty fucking psycho. He has Zombie heads in fish tanks that are still going. He captures this pretty bad ass woman that has become part of the survivor group (Rick's Group) and tortures and rapes her daily. He lets her off a day of that, so she can go fight in the Zombie gladiator arena.

There is a lot of fucking plain psychotic issues throughout the comic.

Smittie61984 10-24-2011 09:59 PM

I was kind of disapointed with this episode but it got pretty good at the end. Next week should be crazy with some good zombie killing. I wanted that doctor to slap that woman and tell her to take her fucking kid somewhere else and quit wasting their supplies. I hope the daughter that was on the horse stays in the show some.

My favorite character is the redneck. Probably the most rational person there.

Rangerscott 10-25-2011 12:01 AM

I completely forgot to watch. Have to wait till friday for it to reshow.

Only seven episodes this season? I thought there was suppose to be 12 or something.
