$10k for an 03!?

What trim level and mileage do you have?

I figured my 06 was worth about $7k on a good day.

Adeptus_Minor 03-19-2011 12:36 AM

Gotta say, the new Durango's body style looks much better.
If the trucks are following suit, it sounds like a sweet deal.
Only problem is, hope you like buying a lot of $5/gal gas by this summer.

03 Sport/quad cab/4wd/hemi/4:10's w/ LSD/20's

basically its fully loaded w/o leather. 76,000 miles.

my truck is in good shape and im good friends w/ the owner of the dealership.

gas mileage is not an issue, i have to have this for our business. so, its a company vehicle. :beers:

will look like this, but it will be a quad cab, not a crew as i want the longer box. the stock wheels/tires have to go, i hate chrome. tires will be around 34" on 20" Fuel wheels.

Particle Man 03-19-2011 07:32 AM

Not bad - there are Dodge trucks all over up here - until you get to this invisible line in town and then it becomes all Chevys... until you get to the OTHER invisible line and then it's all Fords... etc...

Brandon 03-19-2011 08:32 AM

theres a little bit of everything around here. but id guess most are GM. they all make decent trucks.

my 03 has been a great truck. i drove the new one and it rides better, handles better, has more power, etc etc etc.

im not much for rankings, but USNEWS ranks the 2011 Ram the #1 truck. but id guess consumer reports shits all over it. :skep:

Thats so nice. Im not much for chrome at all. I hate how many trucks come with chrome all over the grill, bumper, and rims. I love the color matched front ends like this one. Rims are pretty sweet too.

Gas Man 03-19-2011 08:28 PM

Come to detroit... every dealer here has a million of those.

Plus you can make the salesman give you employee discount pricing...

derf 03-19-2011 08:37 PM

Sixxxer has one, its been rough on him. Traded in his F150 on it, only to whatch the pumpkin blow apart while he was driving or something like that. Anyway, in the 6 months he has owned it it has spend nearly the same number of weeks in the shop

101lifts2 03-19-2011 11:39 PM

I'd get a Chevy...lol

Brandon 03-20-2011 02:45 AM

everyone knows someone whos had a vehicle that has done them wrong. dodge/ford/gm/etc.

Say what?

I fixed it myself in 2 days and it was only down longer b/c it was over the course of Christmas Weekend...and Shit wasnt open. And the dealer I bought it from are pieces of shit and wouldn't own up to there issues of selling it with a dented driveshaft.

She runs like a champ now...and It's way better than my F150.

Way better in what regard? Not offroad or longevity.

I would say Dodge has the market on highway comfort and quietness, not off road or payload or longevity. Though after 2009, they are pretty similar in highway refinement.

Well, I only had my F150 for a little over a year...And I have yet to hit that Mark with my Ram.

But Both trucks offroad are Huge Motherfuckers and I'd choose an Old Yota/Suzuki/Jeep before taking either one of my trucks off road consistently. My ram is damn near 10 feet long and unless its a huge open pit I would be limited with Manuervablity. Same thing with my Old F150...I took it down a few access roads I had nearby but once it started to tighten up I had to stop backup and turn around bc I just couldnt fit down the rest of the trail.

But yes, The F150 had nothing in it except a CD player. My Ram is Fully loaded. But Those things aside, I like the feel of the Ram better. The motor has more feel behind it and the inside is nicer than my ford was. I'm not driving the thing for Offroad Capability...And longevity is something I have to wait awhile to find out. But for my purposes it's been great

Yes many times, but not the 2009 which was a huge change.

In reality, it comes down to looks preference, fuel economy and cost as all three of the Big three makes have the full size truck market. And they have it for a reason.

Ah, fuck needing it!

I think you should do it just so I can see pics of it with the wheels and tires.

Should be a sweet looking truck.

What?!!! Of course you NEED it!! you will also be telling the dealer that the guy down the road was going to give you employee discount right?

I looked at a new dodge when I was looking for trucks. they are really the only "new" truck I like right now. very nice. good warranty on them now.

Well lets see....soccer moms started buying SUV's so what USE to be a "surveyer" vehicle with vinyl seats and rubber floors for $18k went to leather, DVD players and sat/nav for $50k.....so of course their husbands followed and what use to be a country boy and contractor vehicle soon became the same leather, sat/nav equiped rolling lay-z-boy

Try getting rubber floors and cloth in a truck with a few options now without having to special order it :td:

yeah truck LIST prices have gone through the roof. actual price is pretty much the same as always. I priced out a 2011 F150 same as the '02 that I have and by the time we were done talking numbers it was 26 grand. pretty close to the 23 I paid 9 years ago.

that was an XLT extended cab 4X4 big V8 limited slip axle non leather.

1/2 tons get pretty cheap, pretty easy. they aren't selling much. everyone now days wants a 3/4 or 1 ton if they buy a truck.

Brandon 03-24-2011 04:09 PM

i havent bought it yet....

Yeah this shit pisses me off. All you fuckers that buy shit on credit or lease your fucking vehicles so you can do battle with the Jones' are ruining my ability to buy a vehicle of necessity rather than of snobbery.

Papa_Complex 03-29-2011 01:31 PM

You'll never see me buy another Dodge. Not after the crap I had with my Dakota. A friend of mine, who used to do 3rd party warranty inspections warned me to watch for two things just out of warranty; aircon core and transmission issues. He missed the windscreen that started to delaminate, just a month after I got it ("We've never seen THAT before!"), and the manifold leak. Got to the point where I was laying out over $1000.00 every second service, for something.

Of course now my mother has it, and it's running perfectly.

The A/C core is apparently still an issue. I have to have a new one installed in my '06 Ram.

My mechanic and my research have confirmed that "It's not IF bit WHEN. "

Brandon 03-30-2011 08:26 AM

I had 2 dakota's.

I lost the AC on one after a 2000 miles trip in mid august.

No issues ever w/ my 03 Ram, been a great truck.

The whole thing put me off buying North American vehicles and I ended up buying a Mazda product, after dumping the Dakota. I've been looking around for what I might get next and the best candidate I've seen so far, is one that I'll likely never buy because of that; the Ford Transit Connect. If it was a foot longer in the back and was made by Toyota, Honda, of Mazda, I would certainly buy one.

Good thing Ford doesnt have any Stake in Mazda...:lol

They were More involved a few years ago and have since sold off some of there share of the company.

But I'm sure theres still some Ford design in current mazda vehicles.

You do realize Ford bailed out mazda in the late 60's early 70's right? Mazda worked with ford to develop some vehicles...the Mazda versions usually failed while the Ford ones stayed (The Exploere, Navajo...B Series, Ranger...And the Ford Probe and Mazda 6 were essentially the same car just diff styles)

Mazda has since recovered but Ford had there hand in them for awhile

Funny that you should say that, because both the Tribute and 6 are still around and fairly popular.

The tribute is just a rebadged Escape.

Yup, it would make a great base for my track photography, if I bolted a folding bench to the wall. Unfortunately the stated length of the box, with the back seats removed, is *exactly* the published LOA for my bike so odds are it won't fit.

Brandon 06-25-2011 05:17 PM

i ordered a 2012 ram

i wanted to wait because its now available w/ a 6spd.

i should have it in 6-8 weeks. :rockwoot:
