RIP Rider and brother

Lost one of our own today.

Got hit yesterday, pickup following a semi made a left turn in front of him.
He sustained a broken jaw, 5 broken ribs, fractured wrist, broken forearm, fractured pelvis, and had bleeding from his brain. He was life flighted to Fargo, and passed this morning.

He was a father of a baby girl, a soldier, and an instructor at the Regional Training Site in ND. He was 35 years young.

He will be missed.

sorry to hear that

Damn. Every time I hear about something like this, I can't help thinking about how fast it can happen. One minute you're cruising along, enjoying the ride, and the next minute you're just gone. It's a really sobering concept.

I hope he has found peace, and my thoughts are with those close to him.

Also, perhaps prematurely, do we know what kind of helmet he was wearing?

RIP

I watched a rider turn at an intersection turn and when he was clearly starting down the road a car cut in front of him and I'm pretty sure they seen him. This rider braked hard and got stopped. It can happen way to quick.

Not sure. Never got the opportunity to ride with him.

Such a shame... my heart and prayers go out to his little girl and the rest of his family and friends. RIP.

Me too.

It is still sad but these things don't affect me nearly as much as someone I "know".

He was wearing a half helmet of some sort. It came off during the accident as it was found laying quite a ways away from him.
His bike was still upright and embedded in the front of the pickup, up to the firewall, when authorities arrived.
The pickup driver gets a $20 citation for turning in front of oncoming traffic.
SFC Geist pays with his life. Don't think that's what he had in mind when he said he would give his life for his country.

We never like to hear these things but it is a sobering reminder that they are all out to get us. Especially the ones turning left.

RIP rider. My thoughts & prayers go to his family and friends.

I almost got it sitting at a red light. I THOUGHT I saw the SOB starting to stop so I relaxed and put it in neutral. SOB slide between me and the next car missing me by inches. I kicked my own ass for relaxing.

I thought you meant Rider too... :panic:

Why I think I've decided to sell the broken Honda, pack up, and head to racing/track days next year. I had another die this year, an ex-coworker. Was 26 and had a 10 month old at home. Rumor is a car crossed the line and it sent him and his 750 into a tree line. Helmet either was ripped off his head, or was hanging on the side of the bike and flew off. DOA. I've had all but 2 of my friends sell their bikes after the accident.

RIP.
