Race / plate numbers?
Inspired by Tye and Troy's discussion...
It doesn't matter what type of racing (or event if not racing), what is your number and why? Mine is 519. It's my wife's birthday (May 19th). Before we were married, putting her birthday on my bike was my way of saying: "I'm sorry I can't buy you a ring right now, but check out my beautiful new bike!" Quote:

092 or just 92 on my track bikes, was my old jersey # and the # of one of my favorite defensive ends growing up even though I hated the eagles, Reggie White.
|
I run 91 on my BMW themed fiddy, cause that is what Leon Haslam runs and I was keeping to the theme.
Ran 13 and 14 a bit, which are high school sports numbers from my varisty days. |
I run #908 - The date we stopped being just friends with benefits and began a real relationship. It was either that or my birthday....wasn't a big deal really, not like it can't change.
|
My old dirt bike had 111 on it, even though I never raced. It was there when I bought it.
|
I initially had 62
http://www.troybaker.com/tlr/62.jpg Which was a tribute to "Old Blue" that I had just finished which was a 1962 stepside. But one saturday Brian and I went to eat at hooters and these dudes on sportbikes were there eating when we got there. They acknowledged us as they left, then one came back in.....asked "Who's number 62?" I said "I am" and he asked "Is that your WERA number? CCS? NESBA?" I said "Umm...no, just a number" And it was kinda like you could see the excitement turn to "stupid poser" I went home and pulled the 62 off that night :lol |
#11
I was born at 11:11am, 11 was my basketball (random) and baseball (selected) number throughout school, and I got my first big (non-50cc) dirt bike for my 11th birthday (which sported the #11, of course). Not coincidentally the wife and I married 11/11 and 11/11/11 was our 5 year anniversarry. And our little was was born in 2011. |

So 2 of 7 things were selected. I guess you think "most" of your members on your shitty board are still active, too. :lol |
1101001
Just for the record, thats 69 in binary |
27 on my supermoto. It was the old Ferrari #1 driver number.
33 on my race car. It came on the car heheh I don't have good reasons :/ |

On another note, I had given thought about changing my number to the last 3 digits of my AMA Competitors card, however it's less fancy of a number and it is shared with a current Pro whom I'm not a fan of.(I dont dislike him either, I just don't want to share a number with a pro) |

11/11/11 being your 5th anniversary is giving priority to the number 5, which in no way is interesting, just another number. If it was the 11th Anny, that would be neat, but it being the 5th is ordinary since you assigned 11/11 in the first place so unless you died during 4, 11/11/11 was put in place by you by picking that date. Then it all goes back to basketball and the random choice. You were given 11 as your number and then chose to make that significant throughout your life which completely demystifies any sort of weirdness to it. So its really only the time of birth and the random basketball number that wasn't purposeful. If you think the forum is shitty, feel free to leave. I don't really give a shit. |

Maybe I was out of line about your forum... after all your "rally" did round up nearly enough people to fill a Honda Civic. :lol |

We had a good time. Someone is a little mad they got called out on their lame number association. Hell you can pretty much take any number and find "important" associations with them. I am more surprised you didn't come up with more for 11. |
I liked it 929.... better than anything I could of ever pulled from my life. :idk:
|
Heard of Spies about 20 years after I ran it for myself. Not quite the same.

So which org recognizes you as holding the 11? Mine is just for display on a non streetbike that doesn't get tracked. |

Lets just say that that affirmed my trust in lucky number 17.... |

You could have atleast gone with Karl Abraham or Joan Lascorz. |

started using 518 when i lived in florida because it was the area code to home back in NY and since moving back home i continued using it for demolition derbies and anything else using a number or screen name/gamertag

Where's your sense of adventure? Bet you plan everything! Fuel stops, tire rotations.....Whatta loser. Loosen up and live a little, WILL ya? |
#88
Was my original PeeWee footbal number, and I thought it looked good, so I kept it from then on for everything. Once my kid started racing, he kept the number, for his own reasons. |

You are right, I don't have a lucky number, I don't need superstitious bullshit to make me feel better about how little we actually mean in this world, but I do have numbers I used for high school sports that I would use if I actually raced. If it's shitty here, why are you still here? You should go, it's too shitty for you. |

And congrats on not "needing" a lucky number. You so strong!!! :lol |
Quote:
Why are you still here? Do you need help to drive you away from the shitty board? |
Quote:
Even a shitty board needs attention. It just sucks when I'm the one that's gotta do it. :lol |
Stt does not assign numbers. I can look into the others if you like.
I think you are going to need help to make sure you don't hang around our shittiness here for your own good. |
I don't need a number. Everyone knows who I am.
"I am not a number. I am a free man!" |

Oh no, was I just threatened by the captain of a row boat? :tremble: |

You weren't threatened, I am assisting you away from having to come back here. Just a helping hand to make sure your life is filled with shittiness. I need to wait til the 111 post though. |

And the one time I rode with STT they recorded my number, I never cared to ask them how meaningful it was to them. If memory serves, most bikes on the track had a number on them. Most of my days are with NESBA and they require a number, so I run the same with the others by default. |
Quote:
When I joined in 2001 they didn't have ANY single or double digit numbers :skep: Are you gonna ride control with them this year? |

The last CR position I knew NESBA had open went to John, don't know if they'll make any additions this year. If they asked me, I would definitely consider it, but with house purchase next month and the new little one running around I don't know how many days I'll squeeze in this year. |
But dude...free track time...and the tires!!!
It's just fuel man! BTW...Jim didn't realize the deal with tires and would run something he could get cheap...and no one told him for like 7 track days. When he found out, he was SOOO pissed  |
Quote:
They give their guys free tires? |
Quote:
|
:lol No....just a decent deal
|
Quote:
That is a hell of an incentive! |
Quote:
I remember that about Jim, rolling around out there all day on shagged tires. :lol |

What's a CR???

Kyle played with a CR one time as well. It was pretty funny. |

The one I saw the CR couldnt keep up without riding above his head. So he rode above his head and took the dude out when he tried to pass him. |

The last 3 trackdays out here, a control rider has gone down.
I don't know why that's funny to me, but it is. |
Quote:
The beginner ones are usually pretty good, because all they do is teach the entire day and not after trying to make laps or be douchers. The intermediate and above are usually just dudes wanting free track time. |

Doesn't sound like any of you guys have experienced Pitzer or John. That shit don't fly on their tracks :td:
