Here's a 'blast from the past'...

As 'holiday season' approaches, we once again ponder the principal decision of the seaon:

Stove Top / "Real" Stuffing or Mashed Potatoes.

Here's your chance to make your voice heard for your favorite 'critter' side dish... :D

My parents always make some homemade stuffing for christmas and it is heavenly.

Well I'd say "both" except you didn't give the choice of REAL stuffing versus the boxed variety. :)

We always have both... And no Stove-Top junk...

We have both. I start cooking 3 or 4 days in advance for the holidays. There's so much food that you can hardly find a place to eat.

all depends on what I'm eating... I only like stuffing with Turkey. but I LOVE stove top... otherwise it's Taters... and even when I eat stuffing... I eat taters too... so they get the default win.

We have both too.

Two things my mom makes that no one else can, even with the recipe or her helping. Her cornbread stuffing and her potato salad.

Nobody ever makes it like mom!!!!!

Amazingly, the first time Svetlana made fried chicken for me I was shocked that it was just like my mom's. That was another dish no one could ever equal. She started looking like a keeper that day.

Yup if she can cook like mom you'd better hang on :lol: It amazes me the number of people today that can't cook if it dosen't come from a box.

And to answer the un-asked age old question (might as well kill two birds in one post) Mary Ann.

Because Ginger is a whore, and she probably can't make real stuffing anyway.

Probably with papaya, bananas and coconut milk. Mary Ann made everything with coconut milk.

If I were the one doing the holiday cooking, it'd be the real stuff. Unfortunately I'll be at the mercy of family. I'm sure mashed potatoes will be on the menu regardless.

On a related note, I was 20-something before I realized that cranberry sauce could come in some other form besides the red gelatinous goo shaped like the inside of a can.

I have made cranberry sauce ever since I was old enough to be trusted around the stove. Always from scratch. Canned shit is a big NO GO in my house. I have converted cranberry-sauce haters :D But then they can't do canned.... it always has to be made fresh. Which reminds me, I need cranberries.

Mashed potatoes AND stuffing... I make the taters, his mom makes the stuffing. Sometimes though, Boston Market makes the taters. Depends what the plans shake down to be. As of right now, I have no F'ING clue. And it's making my nerves bad.

Oh - other fave side is cheesy green bean casserole - use cheddar cheese soup instead of cream of mushroom, and the cheese french fried onions if you can find them. We have a mushroom allergy in the hizzy.

Neither.. They are not only bad for you... they taste like garbage.

A MNR officer was driving down the road when he came upon a young boy

The little boy said, 'I guess I'll just kiss his butt and let him go!'
