What is going to be your next bike?

I'm sure everyone has their next bike planned out so lets here it.

For me, 2010 Electra Glide classic. You can give me shit about it, but they ride fantastic and I love to do long distance rides. I've wanted one since I was a little kid. :rockwoot:

marko138 11-23-2008 02:00 PM

Couple on my mind right now...but I haven't had the Buell for a year yet...so it'll be a while.

1. Ducati HyperMotard
2. Buell 1125R
3. Triumph Speed Triple

If I could afford a 2nd bike:

Harley-Davidson XR1200
Harley-Davidson VRod.

Dave 11-23-2008 02:32 PM

id really like an rsv. but theres lots of other stuff id jump for too

Yamerhaw 11-23-2008 02:48 PM

not sure, i'd almost feel like i'd be down grading no matter what it was, but more than likely another GSXR 1000

JARVIS518 11-23-2008 02:57 PM

Ktm 690 smc

Mr Lefty 11-23-2008 03:33 PM

I'll be buy'n mine in April or early May next year... I think as much as I'd love to go new... I'm gonna go with used... as I'll be buy'n a house in March.

so
06-07 GSXR600
or
06-07 600RR

if I do go new...

GSXR600
600RR
1125R

Porkchop 11-23-2008 03:38 PM

Well, I dont really care what my first bike is... hopefully Nee's old ride if he hasnt sold it yet....

Mr Lefty 11-23-2008 04:11 PM

 I post up daily...

I get to Mississippi in March... so THEN. I'm look'n to buy a house when I get there... and wanna get a bike ASAP...

I say April just because with my job it may be the first chance I get to get out and really search.

TWFix Track day is in late May so I MUST have something by then

t-homo 11-23-2008 04:25 PM

I'll worry about that when I get tired of this one.

Tmall 11-23-2008 04:29 PM

More than likely an RC51, but perhaps maybe an 1125CR. It won't be for a couple years anyhow.

No no no. The 636 trans is junk. The 07-08 is the hands down winner in every single mag. Plus I've road an 07 R6 and am sure the 6R will outbreak any of the other SS's of its year as well as having a butter smooth trans.

NEW469 11-23-2008 05:08 PM

Hopefully the model after this current '09 R1.

If I get something in 09 it'll more than likely be the 848

Mr Lefty 11-23-2008 05:12 PM

ahh ok... well for what it's worth I don't read the comparisons in the mags... it seems they'll rave about a bike in one aspect then the next dis it in the same area even if the bike was unchanged... :bs:

there isn't much between any of them anyways... but I was going off what I've read from people post'n up about them... course I didn't pay attention to if was a 636 or not.

fnfalman 11-23-2008 05:19 PM

Let's see...next year seems to have several choices that I rather like:

Ducati Streetfighter - this is the first only Duck that interests me in quite some times.

Aprilia RS125 fully tricked out by AF1 Racing in New Braunfels, Texas - I'll see how far AF1 can go with this bad boy.

Husky 510R supermoto - I've been having a hankering for a motard.

Buell 1125CR - I do want to go American but I'll have to see if the quality and the fuel injection issues are worked out.

KTM Venom - easily the baddest naked bike to be soon available but I don't know if it will make it to the US by 2009.

We shall see.

buzzcutt2 11-23-2008 05:20 PM

I'm leaning towards the Specialized Epic Expert Carbon...depending on how much I save before making the purchase. Ohhhhh - you meant motorcycle, oh well.

OneSickPsycho 11-23-2008 05:25 PM

Next bike will most likely be a motard of some sort... been wanting one forever... Prolly a DRZ-400SM...

Then, after someone surgically removes the TLR from my cold dead hands, an 1125CR...

HokieDNA01 11-23-2008 05:27 PM

Well I love the bike I have but I wouldn't mind getting another 06-08 GSXr for the track (a salvaged title one so I won't cry as much if it goes down). I would also really like a motard. I just have a lot of trouble getting my short legs over one so I'm not sure which kind I would like. Any suggestions. I think Yamaha just came out with a 250 motard, Just wish it didn't have a 35+ inch seat height.

No need for sly mods, except the jumper. Even after the jumper it's still down on hp to every other bike. I'm up and over 115 rwhp now so doesn't matter to me much anyways.

PhiSig1071 11-23-2008 06:04 PM

One of two things, if my budget will allow it'll be a KTM Superduke, if my budget wont allow then I'm going to franken-bike the shit out of a Ducati 1000DS and turn it into a freaky, naked, solo streetfighter with clip-on's.

Hokie, if you ever make it my way you can take the KTM for a spin. I'll bet you could handle it. They're tall, but they're light, so you don't need more than one foot or tip-toes to hold it up.

Also planning on picking up an XS650 for a rat-bobber project. But that wont be my "next" bike, just a project I'll have.

some of them run like balls on the jumper without it. riderrage's sure did.

Archren 11-23-2008 06:06 PM

I already own my "dream" bike, as far as superbikes go..

But it's definitely not an all-around bike.

I'd like to own a supermotard of some flavor.. and something else to do long distance on. Haven't totally determined *what* yet, but you know..

Cass 11-23-2008 06:09 PM

I'm to a point where I'd like to do some light touring and have been moderately lusting after a BMW R1200R, yes the nekkid one. Very few faired bikes are aesthetically pleasing to me  After that I'd love a supermoto to hooligan around on :D

NONE_too_SOFT 11-23-2008 06:11 PM

whatever is the best deal and i can afford.

i usually keep my sights on hondas, yami's, and gixxers, in that order.

tlstreak 11-23-2008 08:07 PM

I want to own a nice Ducati once. Not an everyday rider. Just to have in the garage and ride on those really nice summer days. Probably a Monster of the liter type. As of right now, I just want to finish the street fighter conversion on the 929 and have fun. After owning a bike I loved with alot of money invested, my goal is to build the 929 into something just as fun with as little money as possible. So far after selling part of the body work, I think I have less than 2500 invested.

I probably will be in the market two years from now but if I were to buy one today, my top choice at the moment would be a CBR1K in the red\silver color scheme.

Papa_Complex 11-24-2008 10:44 AM

I'm seriously considering a Ninja 650R. Horsepower doesn't interest me as much anymore, as does maneouverability. It would be nice to have a mid-displacement flickable bike that I could swap bodywork on for the odd track day, rather than having two separate bikes that I have to store and do upkeep on. OTOH I kinda like scaring supersport riders on my old POS FZR400 :D

I gotta be frugal, but this one bike for everything is just impossible in this era of specialization. I really want to get oh, bout 3 to hit all my possible pleasures...Buell 1125 gets me thru the Ozarks and an occaissional track day, need a true off road capable machine like a KLR650, and then a commuter/tourer along the lines of a ZZR600 or FZ6. So I am resorting to selling plasma and sperm to afford all these must buys and the accessories for each...:idk:

ceo012384 11-24-2008 06:14 PM

For the street I'm grabbing a DRZ. Great street bikes and fun to ride.

I'll race the R6 for at least a couple seasons, then replace it with another R6 and race that.

I'd like to pick up a race tard and do a race or two on that each weekend as well.

I'll be picking up a cheap dirt bike and getting into that a little bit too.

My buddy threw a carb and an exhaust on his and the thing rips and sounds awesome. Good power for what it is, too.

I took it on the highway and even there it cruises comfortably at 75. It tops out at like 110 or so.

I used to own a K75RT back in the early '90s and it was a great bike. It was a former BMW Canada demo bike that had literally every option available and I picked it up fairly cheap, with full warranty. I test rode maybe a half dozen different models up until 2001, but nothing since. Just sitting on them at trade shows is a much different feel from even the older R1100RS.

I hear ya.

For me personally, the DRZ has more than enough power... with a carb and pipe those things screw pretty good IMO. It will do highway speeds comfortably, and the handling is a friggin blast in the twisties, not to mention the motard hooliganry.

The other factor is that the KTM's and Husky's (at least the ones that are streetable and don't require a TON of maintenance) are about 2-3 times the cost of the DRZ.

PhiSig1071 11-25-2008 06:35 PM

I got my KTM for $5k, it weighs exactly the same as the DRZ and has 20 more hp. But, it is a lot more maintainence, and a lot more finicky. I fix one issue, take it to the track, and another issue pops up. That having been said I wouldn't trade my KTM for a DRZ.

I had a chance to help an acquaintance breaking his in. The HP2 Sport is well balanced unlike most of the other boxer twins and pretty low to the ground. I hate the hump-the-football riding position on sport bikes in general, but I can almost live with the HP2 Sport.

Would I buy one? No. Not while it still have the shaft drive. That flat twin in that state of tune may be down a hair on power, but it has so much torque that you can race on 3rd gear. The handling is superb and so is the fuel injection. But that shaft drive just took the fun out of this bike.

http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...n/IMG_0333.jpg

PhiSig1071 11-25-2008 06:45 PM

Was there a lot of shaft torque effect on the bike?

have you looked into a sport tourer? or you just done with the sport thing? what long distance stuff have ya done?

I am still kicking around the sport tourer... Still like the sportbikes, love the raw power!!! Its just that all the aches and pains, surgeries and assorted other metal that body now has.... make the riding postion difficult to handle for more that 30 minutes. I love to ride but hate the pain, so looking for something more comfortable.

I rode to the UP of Michigan in October, with two guys I work with at the TSA.. Very nice unpopulated area.... logged about 1900 miles in 5 days.. It was on that trip that I decided the GSXR must go.

That's pretty much in line with the info I've heard as well... however my DRZ will be street-only which is why it's the perfect choice for me.

I may putt around on it at a track day if I feel like it but other than that, pure street machine.

Ever ride a 'tard on the track? If you haven't I highly recommend trying it at least once. But yeah, they make really good street bikes.

Only once... it was fucking fun :D

I'm storing my buddy's race tard that we're building up at my garage for the winter and I'll be helping him wrench on it... maybe he'll let me do a race or two on it a weekend ;)

That is, until I grab my own race tard...

really diggin the idea of dumping my 450 for an old nekkid goldwing 1100. could solve my daily/cruiser needs for cheap.

The other factor is that the KTM's and Husky's (at least the ones that are streetable and don't require a TON of maintenance) are about 2-3 times the cost of the DRZ.

I think that is why he bought it...it was dirt cheap compared to the Husky he wanted.

I've never rode one...but I'd like to. They look kick ass and appear to be fun as hell to ride.

Would I buy one? No. Not while it still have the shaft drive. That flat twin in that state of tune may be down a hair on power, but it has so much torque that you can race on 3rd gear. The handling is superb and so is the fuel injection. But that shaft drive just took the fun out of this bike.

Such an awesome bike. Why the shaft drive tho? Same thing with the Vmax...why not put a chain on those bad boys.

And what didn't you like about the shaft drive?

Either a Honda Interceptor or CBR100RR or one of the RCs

Ducati 2v something. 92-98 SS would be cool.

You should take one for a spin... they are a blast. Cornerspeed comes so naturally because of the low weight. And with the steep rake angle and low amount of trail they snap down into the corners really quickly and effortlessly with a light countersteer input.

After doing a lot of track riding my priorities for what I want in a street bike changed quite a bit... I have absolutely zero desire to ride a 130hp supersport crotch rocket at 10% of its limits on the road anymore... I just want something that is fucking fun and nimble, a little hooliganry. The DRZ is perfect. Not to mention great on gas.

I really like the KTM 690 SMC... my buddy has one of those... but they're fuckin 9 grand, so fuck that.
