Who races?
Just curious as to who races, not raced. It's good to know who does in case I have questions.
Edit: I don't even know why I put no as an option. |
Quite a few of the local sofla riders race CCS. Its Team Screwface.,
I've only done track days. I have no money to even think about racing.....or even trying to race. I'm slow on the track  |
I don't race...

You'll be dragging your whole left or right side trying to stay with me.

I would be on a comparable bike..or less!! |
Prove it. I got video evidence of me. What do you have?
|
how's he gonna prove he's faster with a pic or video? you live in diffrent locations and ride diffrent bikes... so how/what would you compare?

I drag raced for 3 years and road raced for 5, but it was a while back so I don't think it counts. Now I just putt around on the street.

I race.
I'm one of the three Screwface'ers that Kel mentioned. We ran/are running the CCS Florida Series this year. Our last weekend is this coming weekend (Dec. 6-7). |
You getting the itch, Derek?
I knew you'd man up sooner or later... |
drag racing-not what you looking for, but i felt like chiming in anyway
|
I've had the itch since May. Still gotta fund the license and a couple local rounds though.
|
I race. Have for 4 years now. My finacee has been racing for almost 20 years. Has done national races as well as local.

I only did the "Clown Show"
2 Attachment(s)
I wanted to race vintage at OMRRA, but my hubby was gone a lot and I didn't want to rely on other people loading and unloading etc. I ended up getting a Italian pocket bike instead and race it on cart tracks (think clown show).

I race...Anything, anytime, anywhere. My resume
1989-1994 dirt track stock cars in SW AR. Pure stock, street stock, hobby stock, outlaw modified. One track championship and several dislocated neck and back veterbrae. Thousands of tear offs in vain. 1998-2003 - CMRA motorcycles. Endurance and sprint series. Seat time on CBR600's, Kawi 600's, SV650s, Yamaha 600s. One novice championship, one runner up, one third place championship finish, 3 lowsides and 2 highsides, couple or 3 off track tip overs, 2 cracked ribs, numerous contusions and abrasions, several tens of thousands up in smoke (but good smoke). Graduate of the Pridmore Star School and school of hard knocks. References upon request |

I might take the Pridmore School next year out here in Vegas. That or a one-on-one instruction with a sho powner out here. He's got a camera on the front and back and we go through the clips between sessions. |
Fiddies and big wheels, spring champion in both.

I'm planning, this coming year or the following to take a school like that. I'm really intrested in the enduro racing...
|
enduro or endurance? Enduro is usually done on Knobbies with check points,
Endurance is done on roadcourses with BALLS! |

DLIT, you and CEO find us a sponsor, I wrangle up a couple R6s and some spares... |
 sounds like a plan!
how long ago did you race endurance? |
Quote:
2003. I was picked up by a CMRA SV650 team. We didn't finish the season though. We were bad ass had me and the other 2 big SV guns from 2002 and a spare rider that we trusted. There was no organization to it though and we were all busy sprint racing so it came and went never serious. I am still in shape though. Back then I could do an hour 20 stint twice a day while fueling, pit bitching, and scoring for the other riders. |
intresting... I need to look into this more

The best teams have dedicated endurance bikes prepped for quick change tires and larger fuel tanks with quick fill capacity. You take turns on and off the bike, work your pit strategy, sweat, and pretty much fill a day from 5 am to 6-7pm. It will teach you a ton more than sprint racing as in sprints you run 110% for 8-12 laps. No time for anything but reaction. You don't really learn anything at that kind of pace. Endurance you run 90% for 25-30 laps and have time to search out new line, strange new reference points, to bodly go where no man has gone before...J/K. Seriously you get to see the same corners all day long, traffic forces you into different lines, other bikes race with you, and you learn and pick up from them. All while having a blast. I miss it a ton. There are also some cool dehydration related mirages and a "runners high" from the heat and concentration. Pretty surreal out there some days... |

that's awesome!

The new asphalt really dropped lap times there. And they run it clockwise and counter clockwise so you never get bored! You want to see a real tough track go to Henderson Texas...That was an old go kart track and it is narrow, bumpy, and has about as many types of asphalt surface as you could quilt together on one track! The pits are really crude and desolate too...

I usually raced at Putnam, IRP, Roebling, TGPR and Road Atlanta. There were enough races among those to keep me broke. Atlanta is a great track but it was the only one that I never won a race on. It takes a lot of HP for that one and I never seemed to have enough... :) I always liked Talladega best, since it was mostly rider, but really I loved them all. |

Hallett is my fav CMRA track, but I still haven't been to the 2 new texas tracks...YET. |
I am the 2nd 3rd of the ScrewFace Racing Team.
Getting ready to head to Casey's place as this is the last race weekend of the season at Homestead International Raceway in Miami |

After it was over I went to watch the awards being handed out to see what that looked like. So I’m just standing around thinking hum, this is pretty cool. Then I heard my name called and I’m like WTF, there must be someone with the same name! After they called it out again I slid up there and was told I got 2nd place. I didn’t think so and told them so. I had no idea where I finished (I didn’t even know they posted it). I tried to convince them that it must be a mistake and that got a laugh from those that heard it. I was informed that the scorers in the tower know where I finished even if I didn’t and to take the damn trophy. I just about shit. I took a 3rd place the next day in one of the 2 races in was in. I had a 500 mile trip back home Sunday night from Savannah, GA and the trophy’s rode in the passenger seat all the way back. You couldn’t have pulled the grin off my face with a pair of vise grips. I was also hooked like a junkie. Crack wouldn’t have worked as well as those two trophy's. |
That's pretty sweet, getting trophies during your first races. I got my first ones this year, during my 2nd season (and I've got a little stack of them going now). I guess that's a big downside to starting in the "meatgrinder" class, but I still love those little pieces of plastic and metal. I hope I'll get some more trophies this year, but it's going to be a bit different in the expert divisions.

I didn't think moving to Expert would be so good for me but I didn't have a choice, so I just decided to step up and do it. it was better in Expert than Novice. Safer riders and faster riders made me a faster, safer rider. I won the first Expert race I was in and went from there. |
Yes, I race.
CMRA |
Yes, I race. WERA West. Ducati 1098. No, I am not crazy OR made out of money...I just love that freakin' bike!
|
Trophies and plaques...You know everyone asks me "how much money do you win?" And when I tell them we spend incredible amounts of money, risk our lives, and fight tooth and nail for a little piece of chrome covered plastic and wood they just kinda stare and nod..."Ummm, Uh Huh, OK then look at the time"
I love my championship jacket and it is a great conversation starter. Some don't think you win them and ask how much a jacket like that costs. I throw out what it takes to run the season, 11 races worth of entry fees, travel accomadations, equipment, tires, and spares, and they get all confused...Still I hold those trophies and that jacket in higher esteem than I do my high school and college diplomas...:idk: |

I win every trackday I enter!
But seriously, I bought a track bike (07 zx6) with the intentions of racing CMRA and WERA events. However, due to unforseen financial setbacks I was unable to run. I haven't even been able to do trackdays in 07. I still have the bike, but don't racing in the picture for 09 either. I am actually looking to trade it for another street bike so I don't have to run around on a lowered and stretched Busa every time I want to get out. I do however have the ability to take the Busa to the track since drag racing is much cheaper around these parts. |
I do a little racing in between crashes.
|
I have hitting the track as one of my goals for 2009, it will be my first time of many more to follow
|
Been racing in the Loudon Road Racing Series since '06.
