First thing to mod
So, what was the first thing you changed [upgraded] on your bike? Why?
Me? Exaust :dthumb: I wanted more of a growl and the termi's did JUST that. Not to mention the Carbon Fiber made them less hot and easier to clean. |
Levers cause i wanted shorties and there wasn't a pipe out for the 1125 yet.
|
Steel braided brake lines. Cant realy find em for the futura though. they def woul dhelp when I am beating on it.
tom |
turn signals, cuz it was affordable and i hated the stock ones
|
exhaust hands down!

my bike came with a pipe but IIRC i cut off the catalizer cone and installed pazzos on the same day
|
1/6th turn HRC throttle kit
|
Installed an Autocom intercom/music setup. Also added and auxilliary brake light to the topcase (affectionately known as the Brake Light of Death -- just ask azoomm...) and R-GS handguard protectors to reduce wind on the gloves. When I commuted on the bike, I also had auxilliary convex rearview mirrors to make blindspot lurkers immediately visible. GPS and Fog/Driving lights are next...
|
on my ZZR it was the double bubble screen... but bought that and my exhaust and new signals all at the same time
for the Honda... not sure yet... probably gonna be the exhaust... or HID lights... or both  |
On my Warrior...
...umm I removed the unsightly factory warning sticker on my tank. I think that's all I've done so far. :idk: |

Shortie pazzos, simply cuz I got a killer deal and figured "why not"?!
|
k&n oil filter, oil change, air filter. anytime i get a used bike/car, thats the first thing i do.
|
Two bikes I did nothing to... One bike was sliders... the TLR will be cable clutch conversion and stainless brake lines...
|
Frame sliders!
Most of my first mods were preparing for the worst. :dthumb: |
1st thing i did was chain & sprockets (520)
Then the PC3r and custom map Then i did the double bubble Puig then I did steel braided lines. and it was downhill from there  Vortex triple, rizoma rearsets, shorty levers, powdercoating, custom paint, etc. I bought the bike with a full M4, so that was out of the way already |
does dropping it in the driveway count? no? well, then, lowering it. I've since added braided lines.

My bike came with a yoshi, so first was the flushmounts for the front. Then came an integrated 600rr tail light, chopping the fender and sliders. Next is probably just tires since I plan on selling it once I have a real job. |

Brakes - stainless braided up front, rear rotor, fresh EBC HH pads all around, and fresh fluid. Why? Because the previous owner was a doofus and KILLED the brakes in 8k miles. Killed. Seriously.
|
I bought mine used, it had an exhaust on it, had a double bubble screen, and came stock with steel braided lines...so there wasn't much for me to do.
Exhaust woulda been first. So I put on frame pucks and axle sliders. I'd now like to add Pazzo's and a few carbon fiber bits. |

Um... the frame... the handlebars, hand controls (not grips), tranny.... I think that's it... oh maybe brakes... |

Nope... the front forks are mostly stock... just added bezle and such to them as well as new tripples and such...
|
I'd like my first mod to be pushing it off a cliff...
In all seriousness, getting the mechanical issues fixed, and breakin all my new gear in!(and then single-side exhaust, shorty levers, brembo brakes, merch wheels, and a whole lotta track time with Elite!) :dthumb: |

Elim kit.. to remove that piece of CRAP space station hanging off the tail...
|
Mine was mostly modded when I got it. First thing I did were tires, HIDs, and oil all at once. Oh and chain and sprockets were right before that.
|
Exhaust was first for me too!
I researched my pipe like crazy and decided on the Devil's. BEST decision I ever made and people notice them all the time. The sound is incredible! http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d6...X/DSC01960.jpg Not the best picture of the pipes but you get the idea. |

That backside looks so good it should be in a different part of the forum!
I have been fortunate enough to have several new bikes in my life. The process is always the same. First things that go are the reflectors and manu warning stickers, then it is brake lines, pads, and gearing. Then the invariable and almost certain transformation towards track prep, Case covers/protectors, sliders. Tires are usually shagged by this point so the upgrade gets done. Then the rearsets are needed cause I have extra grip. I don't get into clip ons or exhausts until I get bored with the above mods or really get serious about taking it on track looking for those last 2 tenths:idk: |
First was lowered a tiny bit and bar risers since I'm not 12 feet tall like some people! The first one I WANTED to do was exhaust. Then horn.. then heated grips.. then LED brake lights.. then and then

But back on topic. My bike already came with a Yoshi pipe, jet kit, aftermarket levers and rearsets, double bubble windshield, and carbon fiber intake covers. Most likely my first mod will be SS braided lines or HID lights. Mainly because my brakes are fucked up..... and a headlight is out. |
My bike already had an aftermarket exhaust so that was something I did not have to do.
First thing I purchased was my Ohlins shock...but Mark would not let me put it on until I realized how awful the stock ride was. By the time I got the Ohlins installed I already did my stars and my seat. :D |
Replace the stock clutch slave cylinder with a Yoyodyne unit, because the stock Ducati slaves are machined by blind eight year-olds on crack.

Replaced the WAY over sprung rear shock with a Penske sprung for my weight. Also installed Ohlins front fork internals, braided brake lines and frameslides. All have been VERY worth it. (best presents ever from my BF :) )
|
sticky tires job #1.
|
the grips was the first thing I changed. then -1 front sprocket, frame sliders and spools.
|
Handlebars and Grip heaters. Then slowly grab rails, tires, brake pads. Just found a smoking deal on a PCIII that I really hadn't been looking for. Soon brake lines and suspension. Be interesting to see what goes on before the rally.
|
Uh, i guess i ditched the UGLY ass ¼ fairing the guy cut out from the stock.
and junked the ugly Block head lamp. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...a/000_1458.jpg |

Well, when I bought mine it was a touring model so it already had a windscreen, sissy bay, floorboards, heel-toe shifter and bags. I had them throw on crash bars and a luggage rack at the dealership when I bought it. The first thing I put on it myself was a Mustang seat, and it was worth every penny. Since then I've lowered it two inches, put a throttle lock, a taillight flasher, a tank bib, highway pegs and a riser kit with a tach (had that one done for me.) And I've wired in a cigarette lighter.
|
On the Kawi the first mod was to get rid of the rear mud flap. Second was get rid of the shitty stock mirrors and replaced them with Buell mirrors, Third mod was Exhaust/Power commander/air filter. And a few other mods ofter that...
On the Zuke, Got rid of the mud flap first, second was the Pazzo shorty levers and third was the tinted double bubble windscreen. |
The first thing for me on a sportbike is always the rear fender SS Enterprise looking thing hanging off the back and I relocate the tag.
Then it's usually the exhaust...then turnsignals...a tankpad...smoked windscreen... |
bark-busters and skid-plate....
