Brake Pads

What do you typically use?

I'm needing to switch out my front and rear brake pads. I ride 100% street till next summer probably, so don't need the 200 dollar pads the race guys run. I've been looking at the galfer HH and the EBC HH.

I have been using the EBC HH pads on my track bike and have been happy with them ( I am an almost midpack intermediate rider) I also used them for street duty on the TL. I have ferodo pads on my priller but am not that thrileld with them. not sure what I am going to go with next.

Ive just started looking for brake pads myself, nice timing on the question.

Well,I always used SBK pads but they were bought out, then I went to Dunlopads. They are excellent BUT you have to break them in to perfection or they squeal like pigs FOREVER!!! Quite frankly,I'd advise you both to go with the EBC pads. They're a good pad, inexpensive and they don't require a pin point break in regimen.

I put a set of Galfer HH pads in my CBR. They are not bad, but I would have rather had EBC. The Galfers were on the shelf and the EBCs weren't so I figured I would try them. I like the stock pads really well but Honda thinks a lot more of them than I do..

Yamerhaw 04-11-2009 09:43 AM

always use EBC HH

I like the Galfer HH much better than my stock pads. More linear and better feel up front, though the rear brake is just as wooden as ever. They do make a kind of buzzing sound at speed (think muted cicadas), but it's cool.

Right now...Lyndall Gold+. On the Zuk I used EBC.

ask speedy, brakes just slow you down. ;)

depending on where you live in the country will determine what pads you really need. if you do a lot of curvy riding go with the EBC HH if you have roads like we do here in FL then you can go with just regular EBC. either way it should run you about $100 for the 3 sets...maybe $115-$120 for the HH pads

In SWMO, we have quite a few twisties. I'll be getting the HH either way. I was more looking for whether people on here prefer Galfer or EBC. For the Galfers, it'll be 80 for the fronts and 25 or so for the back from calsportbike. For the ebc, it'll be 30 for each of the 3 from indysuperbike.com. For the price difference, I'm leaning towards the ebc HH.

I'm trying to decide between EBC's or Lyndall's. I'll prob need new pads this summer sometime.

NONE_too_SOFT 04-12-2009 10:16 PM

i've used EBC's and felt no huge difference. I just bought galfers, along with SS lines, i believe thats the route to go for more feel.

Thanks. I've already got Kevlar lines, but stock (not the original pair) pads all around that are getting pretty worn down, especially the rear.

If you're running street duty go with Lyndall....they won't hold up on the track though.

I ordered Galfer HH fronts and black back today. 90 bucks from motosport so I threw some small shit in there to bump it up to free shipping.

That's the thing. Going to be mostly street... but probably throw in a TD or two as well.

So you are saying prob the EBC's then?

From what I hear, yes. I plan on buying a set of EBC's if I get to the track this year. Everything I hear says the Lyndalls get too hot and fade quickly at track speeds.

But I love them for street duty. So my plan is buy the EBC's and swap them out when I hit the track.

dReWpY 04-19-2009 05:39 PM

ebc HH are what i put in the pig last time i swapped them out and there were/are great
