It just be rainin' jobs around here...

Well, as I'm sure some of you remember, I quit my previous job about a month and a half ago due to a pain in the ass boss that I had tolerated for far too long.

This afternoon I got a call from one of the companies I interviewed with last week and they offered me the position. It's about as perfect as it could get.

I'll be working in the Oklahoma City office helping to get it established, and they are going to let me transfer to their Austin office in a year when Carolina gets back from deployment.

They have 9 offices from Phoenix to Puerto Rico, 6 of those offices being in Texas. They also are listed on the "Best Engineering Firms to Work For" list for 2007 and 2008.

This is the kind of company I've been looking for. I start next Monday.

I have to spend 2-3 weeks in Austin for paperwork and orientation, so I'll definitely be looking forward to that. :D

tached1000rr 07-28-2009 04:04 PM

Great, glad you did not just "settle" and continue to put up with the crap you were before. Too many people are too afraid to take that leap of faith sometimes.

JoJoYZF 07-28-2009 04:26 PM

Congrats man. I just applied for two more government jobs this morning so hopefully Ill be joining you and captain with the threads of good news.

tommymac 07-28-2009 04:28 PM

Sweet. I guess the economy is picking back up, huh?

Method 07-29-2009 09:20 AM

Congrats man! Taking that leap of faith was probably one of the best moves you could have made.

Particle Man 07-29-2009 09:23 AM

so you gonna ride the 'Busa to all the locations? :D

HurricaneHeather 07-29-2009 09:31 AM

Seriously, the whole scenario is nearly perfect. Congrats man!

So were you hired on as the perm guy from the company, or the temp guy from the staffing agency?

Bluestreak 07-29-2009 09:52 AM

Congrats Tracy!

Permanent with the company. :D

Thanks everyone. You're right Carey. This was the best move I could have made. It's just too bad it took me 18 years to get to that point. On the plus side, everything happens for a reason, and the stars lined up perfectly in this case given my current and future circumstances.

Cruzergirl 07-29-2009 10:33 AM

Congratulations! Very cool situation indeed.

Well gang, today was day 1 at the new jobbie job.

I'm going to like working for this company. Very professional, everyone is nice, and I don't get yelled at. Yet. LOL

There is a gym and showers in the building, a volleyball court outside, and a basketball court on top of the parking garage. There is also motorcycle specific parking in the garage as well. :)

Oh, and I got a travel style coffee cup with the company logo on it too. Haha! After all the BS I put up with for so long, it's the little things. :)

I made a wise decision it looks like.

Cass 08-03-2009 11:44 PM

Dude.. you didn't tell them that tomorrow's Volleyball Day!!!

Sounds like a great place.
I forget, is this the one down south or up near my place?
We'll have to grab breakfast one morning if you have time. :dthumb:

G-Rex 08-04-2009 07:24 AM

Greg..up north off 183-Braker. I go in about 730 so if that works for you to catch breakfast before that let me know.

Krabill 08-04-2009 08:55 AM

Awesome news!

. . . do they have an office in Tulsa?

HurricaneHeather 08-04-2009 09:14 AM

It's amazing to think that an employer might actually try and make you happy! It's a wonderful concept!
