Break in service- 662 miles....
So I sit here in the palacial Pig Trail H-D dealership watching a filter and 3 qts 20/50 Syn get droppedin the 1125R. Has been a great 23 days of ownership with no issues and suprisingly great performance. I have gandered the retail marketing paradise that is H-D merchandise and found little to turn my screws. Fine leather but little armor and no style. There is a poor little Buell section but little cool there

No co-branded but their helmets are made by KBC. Their styling department needs to catch up. The quality is good but for retail I can get cooler stuff...Looks like my ECM got the first map reflash but not the 2nd, they are going to download the juice into the ' puter and order the parts to reroute my front brake line, it was a minor recall issue. Then I am ggod to go....

Sweet.

They detailed up real good and the new programming is the tits! I gave her a good flog down AR 12 thru War Eagle and the ole Blackbird she flies!
|
Good to hear. Glad you're enjoying the Buell.
|
Should have been a grand total of 3 reflashes on the 08's, FYI.
First one, no real change in performance, lessened run time on fans. Second, slight map change to *try* to cool down running temps. Also made it so fans could run independantly. Third, finally fixed low end chugging. Slight loss in top end power, but low end driveablility perfected made it worth it. Keep on enjoyin man, and now they HD has checked it out once, do the rest of the services yourself. If you haven't yet, pick up a service manual. It is really well written. Last major issue, watch your rear turns. They are notorious for going out on the 08's. Both of mine have gone already. Also had my cluster replaced as it would fog when I rode in temps below 40 degrees. Now I have an 09 cluster, so I gained a gear indicator! |
Thanks for the tips Cutty! I had mine back in the shop today for the brake line reroute/recall. I was real happy with the last 'flash, cured the low rpm chugging and surging. I have never experienced the heat issue despite Arkansas is July and Aug.
Did have one strange momonet when I thought my low beams were off. I rode on hi until I could pull over but the were on by then. Mighta just been a bad reflection from the cars ahead.? Anyways I am really enjoying it and trying to get the |
suspension dialed in for my style and weight. I will watch those turn signals and I suppose the cluster as fall approaches. Overall I am still in love with the sweet handling chassis and torque.
|
Chris, go to Hallett tomorrow. There are still slots open from what I hear. I am going to be there.
|
Smiles...the owners manual provides a pretty good base for suspension settings. I trust you've read through that though.
|
Ndeed Marko I have. It is more helpful than most owners manuals concerning set up. I also have Sportriders settings for the 1125r and the Roadracing World 1125R and CR track day notes. I have a good baseine now, but am trying to work out perfection...
|
Right on, brutha. I've got mine in the ball park. It's a just a touch still for daily riding. However, when railing...it's right where it needs to be.
|
Thats the way I like em. Doesnt bother me to ride thru some harshness on the street due to my track biased settings, however it is hard to find that track tight balance on the street?!

I took the ZX to 4-5 track days and nailed the gearing and settings for my fav track.
I admit it is harsh and buzzy at a highway or city pace, but in the twisties it carves inside most of the other bikes I ride with and I can pull in thetrack and be 100 pct from first session. The Buell will be there soon! Alot of it has to do with where your suspension travel is for 8 and 9/10ths pace. Without the extra load it does compress as much and feels harsh... |
