Who wants to go to Cedar Point?

I'm going the 22nd-23rd for my birthday and everyone has bailed on me. :gofurslf:

I'm especially looking forward to the mag-launch dragster :rockwoot:

Rider 08-11-2009 03:42 PM

I want to go but not sure it's in the cards this year. I'm busy every weekend until the end of September.

marko138 08-11-2009 03:43 PM

I'm probably gonna be in Western PA that weekend.

skiergirl 08-11-2009 03:45 PM

That's the best park EVER! I love that place.....been years since I made it there, I'm jealous. Have fun!

Fleck750 08-11-2009 04:01 PM

Best coasters in the country. Have fun.

That is the truth. But fuck its gotten expensive as shit. I remember when tickets were like $17

marko138 08-11-2009 04:28 PM

How much is it now? I know Hershey Park is fucking crazy expensive too...but probly less than Cedar Point.

EDIT: HP is 53 fucking dollars.

EDIT 2: I'll be damned. Cedar Point is 45 bucks.

tommymac 08-11-2009 04:43 PM

Gotta work that weekend otherwise I would have been up for a roadtrip.

Tom

HurricaneHeather 08-11-2009 04:47 PM

That is a 21 hour drive for me. Damn.

Phenix_Rider 08-11-2009 06:58 PM

I haven't been on a real coaster in years, and I've never been to Cedar Point. So I'm saying fuck it, it's MY birthday I'm doing what I want. I thought I had a few people going, but for one reason or another they ditched. Last park I went to was Idle Wild which gets old fast. Hershey would be closer to me, but the one girl I thought was going wanted to go to Kalahari water park. Halfway across town from Cedar Point, but what's another 20 minutes?! Would have been great to hit both in one weekend. Still might. Coasters are my big thing though. Big looping, inverted steel ones.

Gas Man 08-11-2009 09:37 PM

The thing is that cedar point is a rollar coaster park. Not a theme park that has some rollar coasters.

JoJoYZF 08-11-2009 10:01 PM

If I didnt have to work Id be down. Its only like an hour or hour and a half drive from me.

Cory 08-11-2009 10:18 PM

I love cedar point and I haven't been there in 8 years!! We were going to head there this weekend because the weather is going to be beautiful..but if people are meeting up I would totally wait a week to put some faces to names :)

Oh and I found a code online that makes the tickets 35.00 if you buy online :rockwoot:

racedoll 08-11-2009 11:01 PM

I won't be able to make it and am not really in to roller coasters, but if any of you are near going to be near the Akron area - let me know. I will drive up to say hey!

marko138 08-12-2009 07:51 AM

Idle Wild...I was there a couple of times. My aunt and uncle live in Indiana (PA). I haven't been there in at least 10 or more years...but it was pretty lame last time I was there.

Hershey has a couple of great roller coasters.

Better than Disney... $78 now.

Wow. Expensive, but I'd expect that out of a massive place like Disney.

Thats one thing I miss about working in News. We used to get free Hershey Park tix every year.

I was on the Great Bear (no floor) fun stuff. Didn't get to ride the Shuttle Loop though.

:rockwoot: Sounds great! It wouldn't take anything to convince me to go this weekend instead of the next one. I was going to see if I could get the military discount... depends how close they look at my old ID.

Great Bear is solid. They put in a new one last year. I forget the name of it. But it's got a crazy first drop of something beyond 90*'s. Pretty wild.

Phenix_Rider 08-12-2009 12:11 PM

I'd like to reserve a hotel room tonight. Original plan was to drive up friday after work (5 hours from work to sandusky), stay the night, hit kalahari, stay another night, then do cedar point. I may make it Cedar Point both days. If it's this weekend, I have to decide if I really want to go to the Motley Crue concert sunday, or want another day for coasters.

Rider 08-12-2009 12:13 PM

Ride coasters my friend, the Crue has been washed up for well over 20 years now.

R6Chick 08-12-2009 12:39 PM

Have fun! Cedar Point is my favorite amusement park!

I 2nd this comment. Trust me, Vince Neil can't sing like he used to. And quite frankly, Tommy Lee was never a good drummer.

psychochild28 08-12-2009 05:56 PM

Cedar point is awesome I used to go every year till I moved to TN. The only good times to go are during the week due to the long ass lines. You will be waiting at prolly around 2 hours for most rides and higher for the newer ones.

We used to go right after they opened every year when I was in grade school and we never waited more than half an hour for anything it was awesome.

Bring squirt guns.....they're fun when you're on the sky ride to squirt ppl as you go past. But you have to be sneaky about it cause some ppl get pissy casue can't get wet or they'll melt lol

Phenix_Rider 08-12-2009 11:02 PM

I hadn't thought about lines. I really can't go during the week, so I'll just get there as early in the morning as possible.

If you're there before the opening, take the sidewalk to the left of the enterance which leads to the Marina enterance, you save about 10 minutes of walking and avoid the crowds.

Yea that's a great way to get in.

Yea early morning isn't bad for lines.

Another thing we used to do is bring a cooler for water/beer/soda and made subs so we could spend our money on the funnel cakes and stuff like that. Since the prices for that are kinda crazy.

dReWpY 08-13-2009 02:27 AM

kings island ftw

psychochild28 08-13-2009 04:09 AM

free waterpark tomorrow and free 6 flags in new york and a zipline at the venue in scranton FTW. I love my job

:whatwhat: Ya bum.

marko138 08-13-2009 07:51 AM

Yeah, Tuesday and Wednesday are the slowest days at Hershey Park...you can usually get right on with minimal wait during the week. I won't go on the weekends...too many damn people.

I'm in the wrong line of work!

Phenix_Rider 08-13-2009 10:19 PM

:boobs: Way to go CompAcc! I ordered a pair of the new Cortech CPX, Faarken Biker Stirrups, and a new cable lock last night. They shipped all of it today! Those pants should be perfect for a weekend at the amusement park.

But days at the water park make you forget all about the crappy days, I'm sure.

Ill see what I can do Phenix.... our lakehouse is right across the water on Catawba Island. I've always had a season pass to the Point, but go figure.... not this year. I could take a Yamaha across the lake and dock in the marina, then we could get in an hour early, and stay an hour late. I'll check on my schedule, we might have floor move at work tho....

The best part is if you are in the marina, you can get in an hour early and stay an hour late! But yes, you can avoid the "running of the bulls" and get to some of the rides in the back much faster!!!!

Fuck that place..... one big safety hazard. On every ride! The Beast made my head bleed. And besides, the Point has better rides.....
