This is what the DBZ movie should've been.. if only they stuck to the story and didn't go all Holly Wood on it..

Exactly. The hope is that this will prompt a good DBZ movie.

I never knew they made a movie until one day I was flipping through the hbo channels. Surprised it didnt go straight to the scifi channel.

Not unlike that Thomas Jane 'Punisher' short film, actually.
Maybe the major studios will take a hint. Probably not...but we can hope.

Wasn't half bad...

It's stuff like this that has me paying more attention to the shoestring budget projects, in things like Kickstarter. The big studios have lost the thread and are throwing all their money into remakes of old movies. I've actually thrown some money behind a couple of projects. The latest is Project London.

They did a good job. I used to love DBZ when i was a kid but loking back there was so much filler it was ridiculous. I hope they do a anime reboot with just the good stuff.

Yeah, the problem was that Toriyama was writing the manga at the same time the cartoon was being produced... he couldn't keep up, so they added a bunch of filler to bridge the gap.

And, of course, the fact that in magic-battle style anime, a single fight ends up stretched across 5 episodes. (or half a season if we're talking about Bleach)
