4 Runner in "limp mode"...help asap!
So, I'm supposed to race at Road Atlanta tomorrow morning, first time ever. 'Cept our tow vehicle (06 4Runner) blew up last night. It's stuck in "limp mode" and won't go over 1500 rpm and idles rough.
We had just hooked up a trailer brake controller to it for the first time, and earlier in the day the fuse for the brake switch blew, which meant it wouldn't shift out of park without pushing the override button. Ran ok for a bit after we fixed that, then this happened. Meeting at 730, need to get it going asap...help please!! |
Un hook what u put in. Pull battery connection during tt. Then check all fuses. U don't NEED a trailer a brake controller. It makes towing way better and safer. But u can do without.

We unhooked it and have been checking fuses but nothing seems awry. Not sure which fuse would cause this...
We really do need a trailer brake controller, it's a 20' enclosed trailer with a car and rollaway toolbox inside. ~5500lbs worth of stuff. But if it's blowing fuses then obvioulsy it gets canned. |
are you getting a check engine light at all? I know it's not related to what you did at all (emissions and such) but the way it's acting is very similar to what my SUV did a few years back (ended up being something screwed up with an 02 sensor)

You racing now? I thought you were slow. lol

I'm in Atlanta to run my buddy's spec E30 at Road Atlanta. I am slow, I'm gonna get creamed out there!
Truck had clogged throttle bodies or some shiz. Running now. |

You can't have clogged throttle bodies. Injectors maybe, but not throttle boddies. Besides, I doubt a 4-runner in 2006 even has throttle bodies. |
It's a toyota. foreign made junk.
