$30 solar panel made of hair
|
Solar panels are really not the answer because they only provide power in sunlight or they need DC storage batteries to harness energy for nighttime use. The use of hair to replace the silicon is OK, but solar panel cost is not the big downside to its use.
We need to use nuclear power. |
Spoken like someone with central air.
For many, a panel such as this...even without storage batteries, could run a pump to fill a water tower, and provide water for a remote town. You're thinking what's more efficient on a grand scale. Some people can't think past a clean drink of water. Re-calibrate. Maybe this invention can help people...and ya gotta at least give the motherfucker MacGyver props out the ass. |
I hope it actually works, and generates the claimed power. Running a pump that could fill a water tower is more than a little beyond this cell's capabilities, but a small bank of them could provide very basic electricity for a small village.

Seriously though, that is very cool and useful technology, particularly for the place it's being tested. I wish implementation would catch up with innovation just a little bit. |
I have central air... I open the door to the cellar and use a fan to blow the cool air into my house. :D

i see a crudely cobbled together piece of crap
9v output for $40 :lmao: maybe the author should have looked up the current going rate for silicon cells at that output, you could have four of them for that price. of course why would i assume he could operate something so simple as google when he misspells edison  btw i repaired a 30 amp blade fuse in my van yesterday with a chewing gum wrapper. wheres my macgyver props? |
:lmao:
