My friend Dave ( original owner of my ZR1100 ) was riding his '02 triumph T100 Bonneville into work today. As he came to Rt 309 and made a full stop, the driver behind him hit the back wheel and knocked him over.

He said, " I came to a stop and as I looked south bound, I suddenly saw blue sky then the pavement.

The driver pushed the back fender into the tire and when it fell over, it broke off the "tab" on the shifter and broke the ball off the end of the clutch lever. He banged his elbow into the pavement but other than that, no injuries.

That's the bike "pre crash". It's an Anniversary Edition and they didn't make too many in '02. The factory burnt down and they lost a lot of bikes.

I'm sure I'll get a full report on the damage tomorrow but he pulled the fender out and rode back home ( 1-1/2 miles ) and then rode his KZ650 into work.

Jeff

edit-- the driver was a woman and he said the only good part was she had big tits.

Gah... I'm paranoid of that same thing happening to me every time I'm at a red light and see a car in my mirror coming up faster than I'd like.
...which seems to be at least once every time I ride

I'm glad he's ok. Is that a regular merge or one with a stop sign? You make it sound as if he stopped without sign to merge which is a huge pet peeve of mine

At least he's OK and his bike didn't suffer too much damage; sounds like the best he could hope for. Bet he'll be triple-checking his mirrors each time he approaches a stop for a while now. :D

Regular stop sign. You have "country road" ending at a divided highway. You come to stop and make sure nobody is doing more than 70 or so ( 55 speed limit ) before twisting thru the gears to get to speed.

To add more excitement, there is also a right going to the right immediately after you get on Rt 309.

Also, Martin Eurosports wants a hour of labor ( $87 plus tax ) for the estimate.

I'm glad he is OK. I try to check my mirrors whether I'm in the car or on the bike. I'm liking the bike too, very nice!!!

I always check the mirrors now and when I see someone coming I flash the brake light. Glad it was nothing serious!

Dave had already pulled the rear fender away from the tire by the time his wife drove the 1.5 miles to the accident scene. Looking at the bottom picture, the damage is the left front turn signal, left grip & end cap, clutch lever, gear shift "knob" ( the part you push with your toe ), left foot peg abraded, a scrape on the center stand ( an option on triumph ) , rear fender, reflector and mount under license plate and the rear brake unit has a scratch.

What I found most amazing was the lack of damage. No scrapes on the engine side cover, oil tank, gas tank , exhaust or shocks.

He's hoping Martins Eurosport has the estimate done by this friday.
