AUSTIN, Texas (Oct. 3, 2012) – Circuit of The Americas today announced that the world’s premier motorcycle racing World Championship, MotoGP™, will join its roster of racing events next spring with the three-day series set for April 19-21, 2013, at the purpose-built Grand Prix venue. With the addition of the MotoGP series, the new circuit will be the first North American racing venue to host both two-and four-wheeled World Championship events in one year’s time.

I would rather watch WSBK here.

I wonder which other track they will drop laguna or indy. Seems riders have issues with both.

Sounded like Indy was worse for complaints. I read they all hated the track surface. Something about not using much of the 'historical' part of the track, too.

I wonder how many people will actually boycott it, when it comes down to it (due to the alleged shenanigans against KS)?

They're both on the calendar for 2013 with CoA. WSBK added Laguna for 2013, so I can't imagine MotoGP dropping it due to complaints from the riders.

Indy on the other hand... I could see that one disappearing from the schedule in years to come. Not a huge turn-out, and not exactly an exciting venue to watch racers point and shoot through the infield with zero elevation changes and negligible camber.

I think almost 70k showed up for this years race. I know its almost certain that Indy will be dropped, but I'll be real sad. It is nice being 3 hours from a race.

But 70k in that venue looks like a ghost town.

Lame, I've been to Indy the past two years. It's become a male escape from our women adventure.

Yea, but the gp circuit doesn't even use half of the 500 oval, and they dont even sell tickets to those viewing sections. The sections that are open are full, especially this year. The general admission sections were packed this year, including all the viewing mounds through the infield section. Sure the front straight is empty, but I dont get why anybody would want to sit there anyway. And besides.... any facility holding 240,000+ will look empty when 2/3 of the sections are closed.

I've been there every year but the first hurricane year. Not looking forward to paying to flu to COTA or Laguna.....
