What stores give the most cash back on debit purchases?

Are there any places where you can get more than 100$ back on debit card purchases? Please list them if so!

Homeslice 09-19-2010 12:28 AM

 Doesn't that depend more on the bank you use?

Akilldema 09-19-2010 12:30 AM

No, it's the store. They can charge you x amount over your purchase and give it to you in cash from their register. There's no limit on my end.

Homeslice 09-19-2010 12:35 AM

Oh ok........Well i f I was a store, I wouldn't allow it at all, because they have to pay visa/mc a merchant charge of 2-3%

Akilldema 09-19-2010 12:39 AM

Either way.. I know most large stores offer 100$ cash back and I seem to recall a couple that did 200. Just can't find them.

He said debit (bank card) which is a much smaller charge that isn't based on amount. I think I paid about 9 cents per transaction when I had my detail shop.

Meijer might

Wait...are you trying to get cash back after a purchase? Umm....why not just buy 2 packs of gum on separate transactions. Or am I missing something here?

Is this strip club money? lol

Smittie61984 09-19-2010 10:32 AM

I'm about positive Publix will give you $200 cash back. You should have them in NC.

Drug stores give the least. I could only get $35 out of CVS last night.

Now with my bank I can use any ATM I want and they'll refund my ATM fee for me. I use 5/3 (or 1 and 2/3 if that's your thing)

Using a bank with no local chains, and need withdraw a large sum on monday for a purchase.. ATM limit is 400, so I'd have to buy 16 packs of gum. I've actually done the gum thing before for about 300$, but the grocery stores aren't real fond of it.

7/11s in this area max out at $10 on a transaction which is pretty worthless.

I know Publix allows a decent amount, one of the preset options at local Targets is $40 but they may allow more, and if my memory is right local Wal-Marts have a preset option for $100. I've never gotten more than $30 back on any transaction though so I'm pretty much just guessing.

Akilldema 09-19-2010 12:28 PM

We don't have any publix stores in this area. Every grocery store does 100$ back and walmart does 100$. My ATM withdrawal limit is 400 and I'll need to withdraw another 1600 after that on the same day.. I think you can go to another bank and withdraw in increments of 400 for a fee, I'll look into that.

Then why are you using them? Why not a bank with a local presence to make things more convenient?

Akilldema 09-19-2010 12:50 PM

I have no choice. One of the companies that pays me from my website issued me a debit card that they direct deposit on. The other option is a paper check which takes about 10+ days longer to issue then my bank has to clear it before I can use it. Oh - and the others pay by paypal (I have a debit card there), so it's the same problem.

101lifts2 09-19-2010 02:04 PM

If you can only get 400..then you are only going to get 400 per day unless you go to the bank.

Akilldema 09-19-2010 02:09 PM

Wrong. 400 is my ATM limit. I've gotten cash back 5 times in the same day after withdrawing my ATM max. That would mean my spending limit was affected by my ATM limit.. they are 2 totally different things.

Some have a $1000 spending limit and thats for debit. Any way you look at it it sounds like that purchase will be a pain in the ass.

My max spend limit is 4,000

Akilldema 09-19-2010 02:35 PM

If it weren't for that, I'd just be patient and wait the 2 weeks for my check to arrive/clear... oh well. Guess I'll figure it out tomorrow.

Amber Lamps 09-19-2010 06:40 PM

have you tried Walmart? I could have swore that they were $200 or so... Also, you could just go to a ATM and eat the $3 fee. Around here there are Cash Point ATMs that don't charge a fee, perhaps there is something similar there? Do a "no fee" ATM search on your phone...I believe that is a choice...

Akilldema 09-19-2010 06:40 PM

I need to withdraw 2,000$ in one day.. that's the problem.

Amber Lamps 09-19-2010 06:44 PM

There are 64 no fee ATMs in Asheville, NC just from Allpoint...

http://locator.allpointnetwork.com/SearchResults.aspx

BTW there are apps for this on the market...:idk:

Akilldema 09-19-2010 06:45 PM

Have you ever withdrawn 2,000$ from an ATM????? My ATM limit is 400$ a day, like I said on the previous page.

Have you tried just walking into a bank and seeing if you can do a "cash advance" or "money transfer"? I've pulled $1,000 from an ATM before btw....

Akilldema 09-19-2010 06:53 PM

The cash advance thing is what I'm going to try tomorrow, but it can only be done in increments of 400, so hopefully the fee isn't too high.

That sucks....call your bank first and see if you can raise your atm limit. It's worth a try. Maybe they'll send you a cashier's check or something...:idk: good luck.

Akilldema 09-19-2010 06:57 PM

Appreciate it. If nothing else, I'll just try the cash advance. If that doesn't work, I'll go to every freaking lane at walmart and buy a pack of gum, lol.

azoomm 09-19-2010 07:56 PM

Have you tried calling the bank to change the ATM limit? I bank with USAA - they have only one "branch" and that is in Killeen next to Fort Hood. Even that is a new concept, they opened that earlier this year. I can call their customer service and after identifying myself they will increase the ATM amount...

Akilldema 09-19-2010 07:58 PM

They say it's fixed... sucks.

OK...yeah the ATM limit is the cash withdrawl from a machine per day. The other thing is just a debit purchase. Go to the Walmart and stand in line 20 times. lol

Now what is the money for?

Akilldema 09-19-2010 10:48 PM

supermoto.

101lifts2 09-20-2010 12:11 AM

Oh nice.

Akilldema 09-20-2010 12:12 AM

I'll post up some pics as long as the deal goes through, etc.

Hey buy a money order for $2000... Maybe at the post office?

Akilldema 09-20-2010 12:15 AM

That's a really good idea actually. I'm not sure if they do em that high though. I think the cutoff is around 1k. Could just get 2 though.

Akilldema 09-20-2010 12:20 AM

This is why I heart the interweb. The limit is 1,000 but they're only 1.50 each, so I'll just get 2 and cash em on the spot. Thanks dude.

No problem... Make sure that the PO can cash them before you do it. BTW check with the seller, he might take money orders...why not?

Akilldema 09-20-2010 12:27 AM

Yeah, he might, but cash would be easier, esp since the rest is in cash. It says on USPS.com that they can be cashed at any location, so if the one I'm at is short, I could hit up another.
