International Female Ride Day - May 6 '11

Hope this isn't a repost but just to let you know....

International Female Ride Day is on Friday May 6th this year. Let's get out there and ride, and show these guys they can't keep all the fun to themselves! Post up your plans for the day or weekend, and remember to come back and share your stories and photos later.

By participating and riding on this united day women underline and demonstrate their passion, ability and enthusiasm for the activity. Women participants as well contribute to the activity on this day as well, by building awareness of female motorcyclists. This worldwide, synchronized unified presence additionally demonstrates to others the fun and enjoyment females of all diversities share in this wonderful activity of motorcycling!

The event occurs on the first Friday of May each year. Women participate by simply being on their motorcycle to "JUST RIDE" ...

…to work
…to meet a friend(s)
…to a fitness class
…to their local motorcycle retailer
…to a country road
…to take an off road or track day course
…to a shopping mall
…to your friends charity event and so on.

The day invites women to be on a motorcycle. It is not an organised ride, not a charity or a fundraiser and this is to ensure the events core message remains clear —that of highlighting women motorcyclists! However, many groups, clubs and women incorporate their own purpose, cause or fund raiser to whatever they organise on the day! We've introduced a campaign to spend as desired and only ask that women get out on their motorcycle and "JUST RIDE"!

Motorcycles of all brands, types, styles and capacities are welcome! Street, off road/dirt or scooter, sport, duo-purpose, cruiser, touring, trike or ATV!

This is one day devoted to women riders! Women of all ages and all experience levels demonstrating their personal passion, pleasure and camaraderie alone or together in the activity of motorcycling- around the world!

I'm going out drag on this day, wig, knee highs, flowery dress, unshaved legs and all.....

derf 04-25-2011 08:33 PM

I read the title of this thread completely wrong, all I saw was international ride a female day. Let me tell you, this thread turned out to be a let down.

acalliste 04-25-2011 08:55 PM

Well watch out if you do try to ride any, I hear there will be some guys in drag... hehehe... :D

acalliste 04-25-2011 08:56 PM

Oh, and while I was googling more info about this event yet another reason for to buy a Kawasaki reared it's sexy head. They have a promo where you get a $250 gift card if you buy a bike that weekend, in honor of Intl Female Ride Day.

Oh yeah....

acalliste 04-25-2011 08:58 PM

Sorry, actually it's the first 500 buyers

Thursday is my last final for this semester so I will have friday off. Will try to get out on a ride then!

acalliste 04-25-2011 10:17 PM

Don't forget to take pics!

I hope to be riding Friday afternoon, and am going to try to get pics of as many ladies out riding as I can.

Tsunami 04-25-2011 10:42 PM

I won't! But if I am riding solo then I won't be in the pic, just the bike

acalliste 04-26-2011 07:28 AM

Well at least you'll be out riding. Don't you know any ladies out there to ride with?

no :(

acalliste 04-26-2011 08:42 PM

Aw, that's too bad. It's so much fun to ride with a great group of ladies. I love riding with guys too, but riding with a group of women only is pretty awesome.

I know! I may have to move to Austin to get some lady rider friends! I don't really ride in groups anymore either. I had one dedicated partner, but he moved back to canada. He was great, always down for a ride. I am grooming another riding partner though, but our schedules are pretty opposite.

acalliste 04-27-2011 02:32 AM

Texas seems really popular for women riders. There are always a few Texas gals on the other forums I go to. And for a while there was a huge group of Wisconsin ladies on one site. But you know how it goes, people get caught up in their lives and drift off. Ah well...

UGGGHH that video is killing me! I want a little dirtbike!

acalliste 04-28-2011 08:54 PM

Oh man, don't give me any ideas! I could use a pit bike. :D

skiergirl 04-28-2011 08:57 PM

Dirt bikes RULE! do it!

I won't be riding as I've been working too many hours to get a new battery in mine.

acalliste 04-28-2011 09:28 PM

I wonder if any of these promos apply to dirt bikes... will have to check into it. It seems so, since they have dirt bikes in the vid.

Tsunami 04-28-2011 10:44 PM

I may have to go to the dealer around the corner and sit on some. The kl110L is only 2k ish. Wonder if its too small? Would be nice to get something small that I can throw around. I can't throw around the dual sport nor really touch the ground, so its only flat packed dirt for me with the DR.

acalliste 04-29-2011 09:43 AM

I haven't ridden a dirt bike in years. I would have to get something small to start out with again. lol

azoomm 04-29-2011 09:52 AM

YAY, a reason to ride! Wait, do I need a reason to ride?

HurricaneHeather 04-29-2011 03:35 PM

Ack!! What happened to your bike?

HurricaneHeather 04-29-2011 03:44 PM

 Nothing, I just had the rear tire replaced and I don't trust myself to get the wheel put back on.

Avatard 04-29-2011 03:47 PM

Shit, I'd love to ride a female, but I don't know where I'll find one worth riding in just a week's time...

Ok...good. Damn..... :lmao:

racedoll 04-30-2011 10:19 PM

I got my sticker today so I'll be legal to ride next week. Now if the weather would cooperate and stop raining.

acalliste 05-06-2011 08:18 AM

Well I don't get to ride today. Had a family emergency to attend to, so that took priority, still dealing with it. Hope you ladies get to ride today. Maybe I'll get to ride on Sunday instead.

Don't forget about the Kawasaki promo though! If you are in the market for a new bike now is the time!

HurricaneHeather 05-06-2011 01:24 PM

I rode. I'll try to get a co-worker to take a picture for me.

Tsunami 05-06-2011 01:43 PM

Ugghh I am up to my eyeballs in cleaning since I am having company over later and also because I haven't cleaned since the semester started. My place looks like its been robbed, I dont' even know where to begin!

Then I have a million and 1 things to do like drop off my speeding ticket, buy pet food etc etc. Can't wait til I graduate and have a life again! Maybe I can ride around the apt complex just to say I did :D

racedoll 05-06-2011 09:59 PM

I could have rode to work but it was calling for rain so I didn't take my chances. Oh well, maybe I'll get out some time this weekend.

Great picture Heather!

Kaneman 05-07-2011 05:28 PM

It was raining here so I rode on 05/09, 05/10, and 05/11 - does that count?

acalliste 05-12-2011 10:14 PM

I rode on Sunday!

HurricaneHeather 05-12-2011 10:24 PM

Particle Man 05-13-2011 04:31 PM

:rockwoot:

acalliste 05-13-2011 08:59 PM

And I rode today!

My bike is running like crap though. Needs new plugs, I somehow forgot to change them about 10,000 miles ago. I should just jack it up and roll a Z1000 underneath it. :D

I'll second that since it's not coming out of my pocket:lol

I sat on one last Friday for the 1st time, I might have a chance to test one tomorrow but we will see.

acalliste 05-15-2011 05:35 PM

Did you get to test ride one? What did you think?
