Where Did You Propose?

The food court proposal thread just has me wondering. I'm curious where the married peeps on TWF asked their spouse (or was asked) to marry them. And how long were you dating before doing so?

For me, I asked my (now) wife in Key West on a sunset cruise. It was during Fantasy Fest weekend and several of our close friends were there. We had been dating for 2 years, living together for 1.5 of them. Going on 7 years married now.

Had planned to propose in Boston by the piers but failed to bring the ring like an idiot.

Ended up proposing at home. It worked out better that way since she hates being a public spectacle

At a bar during karaoke with a bunch of friends around. Our first date we went out to karaoke with the same DJ (a friend of hers).
Been together for a little over 5 years at the time, wedding in Sept.

First wife: I bought the ring after we had been together for about a year and a half.

We went to her moms down in Augusta to visit for the weekend and so I could meet her grandmother who had come down from Illinois for a visit. I had determined that if I got along with her grandmother and they liked ME..I would propose at dinner AFTER asking permission from her mother and grandmother. We all met...everyone loved one another, and her mother and I went to the grocery store prior to dinner, where I saw a little nickel machine with rings. So I bought a fake heart shaped diamond ring (she wanted a heart shaped diamond...so I actually bought a real one, so this fake one was perfect) and presented her the fake one at dinner. Everyone was laughing and she too thought it was a joke and said yes...then Grandma handed me the real one and I did the REAL proposal. Again...she said yes. Seemed sincere. Never heard a doubt afterwards.

Then.....10 years later when she informed me that she was leaving, she told me that had I not "pressured her" in front of her grandmother she never would have said yes :skep:

Second wife:
I ordered specialty M&M's (her favorite candy) in pink and red that said "Marry me!" and poured them onto her bed spelling "Marry me" and a heart. Then I ordered rose peddles in pink and red and sprinkled them from the front door to her bed. And I was waiting in the bedroom for her after work.

No pressure...just me this time

We've been married 3 years in May

The official proposal was in bed. He proposed with a keyring with the key to HIS Ducati 998. We got rings the year after we got married - they are simple titanium bands.

He proposed, and didn't get an answer. My head freaked out... I had come out of a horrible divorce and followed that with a stalker. The thought of getting married made me hyperventilate. So, he proposed after we had moved in together. He then left and went to work for a few weeks. After that, he posted that thread online while I was at work.

We now give each other keyrings on anniversaries. My favorite was what he now wears as his wedding band when he's home:http://www.thinkgeek.com/interests/gamer/756e/ Get it? It's a ring, that's a bottle key.

This is what I'm thinking. Cbp has a deal: $350 for four seats, the big screen, champagne post game and a dvd of the whole shebang. Gotta get this car sold

I proposed just outside of Gatlinburg TN in the middle of the woods. We were on a hiking path that was part of a tourist attraction. She always wanted to go there so I setup the trip as her college graduation gift.

We were dating 5 months and I asked her parents before we left. We were married 7 years this past October.
