Honda Help
Hey guys, got a friend with an issue on her 06 F4I CBR 600.
Bike starts up fine, idles normal for a few seconds, then the idle starts climbing and keeps doing so until she's screaming or you turn it off. Once it gets revved up, it stays at super high idle, adjusting the idle didnt help and the shop was stumped. Bike's throttle bodies have been cleaned, filter is clean, its got new plugs and the battery is charging just fine. Told her I'd see if you guys could help. Any of ya'll had this issue or dealt with it? |
Are the throttle cables pinched anywhere? I had idle issues when mine were zip tied. I had moved them around to do something and when I re zipped them they were pinched.

Checking now...

Not terribly familiar with that bike, but I'd check for a disconnected vacuum line (if there are any), as well as cracks in the boots (if there are any) under the throttle bodies. Anywhere that air might get in.
That's assuming the easy stuff like sticky throttle cables and throttle tube have been checked. Edit: If you take the airbox off and run it, you ought to be able to see if the throttle plates are stuck open. If so, it's probably cables or something else sticking. If they're closed and it's still idling like that, there's a vacuum leak somewhere. |
Sounds like a vac line hooked up wrong.
|
vacuum leak somewhere. lift the tank and get some carb cleaner. spray all over, when it revs up you know where to look
|
You didn't fart with the throttlebody sensor did ya?
|
Thx guys, I'll pass it along. Not my bike, not sure what all has been messed with.
|
I've seen several G00F4is with bad fuel pumps/seals.
|
It is an open loop FI. It could be an O2 sensor, faulty pressure regulator or ECM.
Does the bike have an after market exhaust with a power commander type chip on it? |
