There's no cause for alarm -- this is just a drill! The mock disaster training exercise is being done with Scioto County first responders and the Ohio Army National Guard 52nd Civil Support Unit. "It's the reality of the world we live in," says Portsmouth Police Chief Bill Raisin. "Don't forget there is such a thing as domestic terrorism. This helps us all be prepared." TF 160 SOAR out of Fort Cambell, KY (AKA "Those Black Helicopters")
Routine "Urba" training. seems they do it in downtown LA pretty routinely. |
Give cops a bunch of "tacti-cool" gear, and they'll never give it up.

Haha.... Hey Troy, the one in Ohio that you quoted... that's the Ohio HRF training (Homeland Response Force). Same kind of unit that I'm in.. in fact, they were the first of the ten to be certified. We were certified in 2011. We (the TX HRF) just did a big training exercise in December with a bunch of central Texas emergency response agencies called Urban Shield (something that started out as a SWAT training exercise, but grew to encompass all police, fire, and EMS). This year it was hosted here, but it goes on all over the country. I'm sure other emergency response folks on the forum can attest to that.
Edit to add: Some of the photos from Urban Shield - http://www.minutemantx.us/6CBRN/mult...9209&k=TdjW63S |
