F@@K! Helmet lost a piece.

Just picked up my helmet to move it, and the shield was loose. Lifted the shield, and it popped out of the right side. Took it off the left, and the right side release lever is missing!

I've seen spoilers and chin curtains and breath deflectors for the RF-1000, but are the release levers available anywhere? The mechanism on both sides is replaceable.

Contact Shoei. I lost a piece off of my HJC and they shipped me a replacement, free of charge.

Newenough to the rescue!

...waiting to see what shipping will cost...
WTF? $10 shipping? For standard ground...
USPS Priority Mail is $5.50.

You're right...wonder how long it would take to get? Should be a warranty part.

Write shoei an email or call them, they replaced some things on my helmet free of charge and free shipping.

I just emailed them, but it's a holiday weekend, so I don't expect much till at least tuesday. If I order from Newenough, it probably won't do anything till tuesday. If I don't make my track day the 6th because of a lousy release lever, I'll be pissed.

Should always have a backup.

Haven't been able to afford another $400 helmet

marko138 08-31-2008 10:36 PM

Who said a backup had to be 4 bills?

Yep, I'd find a cheap helmet that fits well. Personally, I'd get a Scorpion (if it fits your head right). It's a well made helmet and cheap.
