Since I lift alot I can barely turn my leg out to a 30 degree angle. I can ride with one hand following people who drag knee in every corner, but I rarely do it.
Maybe you should look at adding some flexibility trainging into your workouts...

My experience is the same with the 954... It's not a very comfortable bike to get in position on...
