Unless you get both phase 1 and 2 back to back at Camp Parks, I didn't see the point in driving out there, but that was me (I only did phase 1 out there).
Hell, it's like 1800 miles just to get out of Texas from Austin (exaggerating.. sort of..
).
Anyhoo... I'm a threadjacking fool today.
ETA: As far as where they normally send you, it just depends on what's available in the time frame you want to go and what the State is willing to pay for (at least here in TX). There's another school that does 42A in Georgia, I believe.. hell, there's one that teaches it in Germany (3747th MFTB-E.. I used to be an 88N instructor in that unit). It just all depends upon availability, and how desperate they are in getting you into that school.
