I saw a guy crash recently from doing this and every rider's meeting I've ever been to has specifically warned not to do this.
I find I get really tired in this kind of heat and it takes away some of the enjoyment of the ride. Thankfully the humidity has broken here.

I realize it's their responsibility to pass safely, but I also wanted to be courteous, as I probably shouldn't have been in the intermediate group on that bike.
I'm very comfortable on the strom, and it's very easy to look over my shoulder on that bike, unlike on a sport bike. If I saw a group of people coming up behind me, I'd pull out of the line, slow down, and wave them by. Just did it out of courtesy for them.
Nobody seemed to have a problem with it, including the multiple instructors that were out there. I just wanted to stay out of people's way.
