The problem is *not* cruising. Everyone's focus changes and their tastes/bikes change as that focus does.
There are plenty of paces short of *running the canyons* that is fun. My TLR hasn't left the garage this year, the Busa has a few times, the BMW has alot, and I'm taking the KLR to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska in 2 days. There won't be any canyon carving on that bike, but I'm totally looking forward to the trip and I'm going to have a blast.
I haven't gone out and done full boogie dragging knee on a sportbike in quite some time, and I am in no way bored with riding.
If just taking it easy bores you, so be it, but that's not everyone's problem.
