I you'd are having knee or ankle problems, try running on a trail or a dirttrack, much less impact on your legs and ankles, also look at the sites you are using, they mighty have tool much or too little cushion. That knee injury from the fiddy probably really fucked up OSP and running.
Knee injuries can pretty much fuck up any interest in running. My wife will use the elliptical instead of running because of her knee issues.
I really wouldn't advise anyone with a bad knee injury to run without consulting a doc to see how much abuse the knee can really take. You can really fuck yourself up for later in life if you continually abuse joints that can't take it.
