you don't need to let it sit overnight - any chain lube i have used says warm up the chain after cleaning with a 5 minute ride then put the lube on and wait 15 minutes.. overnight is overkill..

oh and i use the grunge brush as well - its cheap just buy one..
Do the kerosene... it worked great. Just dropping the sprocket into the kerosene half the shit came off by itself. A little bit of brushing and I was done.

Just wear rubber gloves because it isn't great on your hands.... it's kinda like gasoline it will dry the shit out of them.
