if you were fast enough to worry about that pound, you could quite possibly be fast enough to "outrun" your stock headlite, therefore justifying that extra pound......think about it.....

I just installed a set in my car. Besides wiring up a relay to be "safe". Installation was a breeze. The ballasts are tiny, the light output is incredible. I can actually see at night now. My car has a tinted windshield, it used to be a little hard to see at night.

I have a 6000K kit as my high beam and a 3500K super yellow kit as my low beam. I have been running them for about three years without issue.
Most kits have a bladed relay that you plug into the bulb socket in the stock harness. Here is what they look like head on:
