Yup. I think even my vfr is considered a sportbike. Not sure about super sport. I have basic basic for both bikes. Ill have to look up my paper work and tell ya what I pay and for what.
The only thing bad for me on my bike record is a ticket for no MC license but thhat was 5 or so years ago. My agent never mentioned it so I guess its dropped. |

you need to find someone who has a policy with those companies, and get a copy of the papers that come with it. They list all the discount codes available. If they think you will bail, they'll give you some discounts even though you don't really qualify. Like if you are a so-called "professional" you will get a discount, and they also have an equivalent discount for people who work in "trades" like plumbing, etc. And with my company there is another discount for belonging to a "professional association" which can bascially be anything, even a lame honors society.

State Farm. They go by engine size regardless of type of bike... Yes, a VTX 1800 cost more to insure with State Farm than a CBR1000RR...
Progressive is the WORST... I had them with my 500R... I turned 25, got my renewal a month later and it had gone UP almost $300/yr. I called and they said that they had re-evaluated the way they calculated rates for motorcycles and while I did get a discount for turning 25, the net result was an increase. I promptly told them to fuck off... then switched to State Farm. Cost less than 1/3 what I had paid before the rate increase... |

I laughed when I got a progressive quote on just liability. It was more than what my ninja 250 cost.

I switched from Geico to Allstate when I moved so I could have an agent in the same city as me.
Right meow being 26 and single with a clean record in a city of 230k population, I pay $157.38 a year for both my '01 VFR and '09 ER-6N with Liability only. It would have been $174 if I did it in installments. I believe I don't have uninsured motorist on these. 2001 VFR Liability insurance Body - $30k each person $60k each accident (Passenger Liability coverage incluced) Property damage - $50k each accident Towing & labor cost coverage - $50 Premium - $83.71 '09 ER-6N "ditto" Premium - $88.26 My discounts are: Home ownership, Multiple cycle, organization, and good rider. I think the organization is from me joining that Honda thing you can do online or something. Last edited by Rangerscott; 06-02-2012 at 11:08 AM.. |
