A friend of mine lost his (beach) house last night to storm surge. His last status update was that he was abandoning his house and it was moving

I shredded my old lag and ski's drag racing on pave after I put the high compression kit in.
I cannot wait to get the sled out. Only got 6 miles on the damn sled last year. Really pissed about that.

The wife picked up jugs of water and the essentials.

I got my own essentials... I have a case of Sam Adams ready.

Sandy is going to hit us later this afternoon and the worst of it should be over by mid morning tomorrow. Chain saw is all fueled up and ready for action.

Storm surges here is the big concern. Rain/wind hasnt been that bad yet but a lot of streets around here are flooded. Theres one road that goes in and out of here so long as thats passable were ok. A lot of houses by the channels are already hammered has a ways to go before it would get to us, but high tides in about 7 hrs so that will get interesting.

Yeah, be safe.

My Aunt lives in the Hamptons. Her BF is going to ride out the storm on his boat at Montauk because the surge is supposed to be higher than the pilings.

Fire island was evacuated. Some are saying the east end my be spared if the storm makes landfall far enough south. Dont think thats going to help me though.

So far so good though, rains not too bad and the surge went back some so I guess the tides going out.

Did somebody say hurricane???

Hi guys and gals... Just wanted to say hello from Upstate New York and obviously, I just wanted send my best wishes to everyone that will be impacted by this awful hurricane that will be heading into Southern New Jersey later tonight... This will be one for the record books and it will be absolutely devastating for the mid-Atlantic and the Northeast. Let us hope for the best with Hurricane Sandy... I hope everyone is well...
