I've never felt the need anywhere I've been. If common sense and being 6'2" doesn't keep me out of trouble, I have martial arts training.

That said, I've been thinking about getting it. Not necessarily for self defense. I want to get into shooting, and a license would make things much easier when transporting. Reading up on it now, should be crazy simple. Go to the Sheriff with a couple numbers for reference and $25-ish dollars. Wait a few hours/days and it's done. As for no-carry zones... Schools, Courts, Casinos, Federal Buildings. I'll try to go to a dealer tomorrow for more info, but it's going to be a busy week.

I must be slow, because I finally realized the other reason (besides a pathetic terrorist check) why I had to lift my jacket going into the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. And it's stupid that NJ, DE, MD don't recognize a PA license. Ah well, if I go to those states with it I just won't get caught.

Yeah, I meant if he was living in Philly. I seriously would never live in teh Peoples Republic of New Jersey. Honestly, no disrespect to the people who do, but it's way too restrictive there.

Thats essentially it. Some counties, like mine, make you wait 2 weeks...other issue on the spot. But no Philly. The state law says they have to issue in 45 days or under...Philly PD doesn't care and they will wait months and months. So get it now before you move...even if you dont have a gun. You dont need a gun to get the LTCF.

And I seriously wouldn't carry concealed in states that don't honor PA's license. That ain't no joke if you get caught. Be careful.

Seriously, Philly can be a dangerous city. The locals will tell you where to avoid...like up around U Penn and Temple.

Wayne county (same county Detroit is in) is horrible in return. Takes 2-4months! Yet they have the same rule. 45days. They simply ignore it.

As far as regonizing in other states... always check. I do.

Most of the time you can check both states gov websites reciprocating ccw. But there are also maps.

Looks like PA has allot more red states

And NY looks horrible!!!

It's also flat out illegal to charge more than $25 bucks for the license in this state. Many counties tack on "fee"...such as "picture fee", etc. It's illegal. I can cite the law that says so...but they just ignore and no one in the Guv does anything about it.

you're tellin me. Plus its another $110 in 4.5 yrs (its a 5yr permit but you can't wait that long cause you don't want yours to expire before the new one comes). And in order to renew you have to complete so many hours of online classes and some many hours of range time.

I saw somewhere that they're allowed to go by business days. 45 business days is two full months.

This place has lots of good info
