Default Any trailer owners here?

I need a trailer, primarily to haul cars but also to haul motorcycles occasionally. Any tips / things to look out for?

I saw this, but it's in LV: http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/rvs/1515013862.html

That fuel rig is hot, but someone at Carson said you'll get ticketed for it if it's not "certified" or something? Anyone familiar with the law on that?

Also I have no idea if it's priced right, since he's pricing it based on how much he needs to buy his next trailer, not on how much it's worth

well that "new" deck looks pretty rusty. fuel tank is no big deal, i think however you could get a new 18 footer for that or less. i know i've looked at them here for just under 2 grand but without the winch or boxes.
make sure the ramps will allow you to get a car on the trailer without high centering it.
personally i wouldn't be interested in the one you posted.

Personally I dislike the ones with the vertical ramps, as you cannot have anything hang over the end, so the length of the trailer is the exact length of what you can haul.

Car is 12', 18' gives me room for a car + a pit bike even. That's not an issue--I'd rather have attached ramps rather than deal with lining up those big heavy things.

I thought this topic was going to be about Karl's landlord

The longer, the easier to back up. A longer than stock receiver insert always helps a little too.

Out of curiosity, what car are you towing that is only 12' long?

True but we are talking about a 20+ foot trailer not a PWC tote.

Depending on where he parks and stores the thing, bigger can be more of a PITA than helpful.

Backing a trailer is like driving a manual transmission. You shouldn't be allowed to possess a man card without a proven mastery of the skill.
