I just used a floppy disk for my "basic technology competency exam" this past weekend at the tech college. It seemed foreign.

the 5.25" were even better than the 3.5" (but not as good as good ol' 8"). I still have both laying around and machines with drives to read them

But they just don't stick in zombie heads the way that a good CD does. They also make poor kick stand plates, whereas a half dozen AOL CDs do a great job.

they just sorta melt unless it's the 3.5" ones with the metal flap covering the magnetic surface - those spark a bit.

I hope we don't need floppies to do back up on the Okuma Verticle milling machine at work.

It uses 8-1/2" floppies
