Is it the one with counterbalancer or just the regular twin cam?

Friend of mine had a Sportster for sale at his shop and it a took a long time and a lot of price drops to sell. I think it was a 2006.

He let me take it for a spin and it was a big adjustment.
Feet flailing about for the first couple of feet because they wanted to go where I'm used to putting them on a sportbike or standard.
Power delivery was... occuring, I guess.
Good torque right of idle followed by lots of noise and moderate acceleration
shift
gas for a sec
shift
gas for a sec
until your at top gear and you kind of put-put around.
At a stop you kinda watch everything jiggle. Readjust the mirrors because they keep moving around. It does give you something to do at stops.

Luckily, the bike I rode had quiet pipes.

For 5K I'm guessing there are things that need fixing but I think it would be worth a little work.
Actually no.

I wouldn't touch that thing. I'd use that 5K instead to cover a data plan on a phone so I can post up pictures of the St Patties day parade as soon as I take em.

$30 extra for a data plan = $724
Why the fuck do I have to get a data plan just to get something beside the crappo phones?

F u Verizon.

Sounds like a good deal. Many people love the Dynas. The powertrain of a big twin but on a smaller frame. Not sporty small but close. Very able bikes.

And those look like samson ground pounders on it. I bet its loud.

Any HD under KBB sounds like a good deal. Not that I'd ever buy one. People have a very overinflated idea of the value of those things. I've seen 15 year old used HDs for thousands more than KBB with just fringe and tassels (and the obligatory extra chrome). Of course, a lot of them sit forever. It's just stupid- like the clowns selling "custom" GSXRs. With a road rashed repaint and stickers

I think 5K for a 2002 Cruiser with 12K is reasonable if its in good condition.
Maybe they forgot to add the Harley tax.

+ 1500 for HD "anniversary" badge ("oh, which anni?" "iunno")
+ 500 for chrome gauge bezel
+ 500 for chrome primary cover
+ 500 for short chrome exhaust

That's about what I normally see.

He tells me that nothing is wrong with it and he said he really doesn't want to sell but he has a baby on the way so his priorities are changing.. He's my gf's Sister's BF, so if I have problems he knows I'll be able to find him..

From riding a few cruisers they do seem like they have power right off the line then you get a big disappointment waiting for the HP to kick in.. It never really does.. And the 6k or so (no tach on a lot of em) redline means very fast shifts..

The exhaust is stoopid loud.. Straight pipes that basically bounce off the ground.. he says they set off car alarms all the time.. I might put some baffles in..
