You say that, yet have you seen the resale value of used iPhones? If you keep them in good condition, you can use them for a couple years and still sell them for a nice amount when you are done with it, especially if it's scratch-free.

Sold my old 3GS 32GB for 400$ Bought the 4 for 300.. Seems like a win/win to me.
