I am not a big windows fan and I have a pretty generic BYO PC that I run retail Snow Leopard on using chameleon EFI. It works great and it didn't cost an arm and a leg to use. The beauty of using a retail DVD is that any OS upgrades from autoupdate don't cause any issues. I started using that about 1.5 years ago using Leopard.
