the maz 5 is a neat lil car, we looked into those, and being "your" kids are older it wouldn't be too bad.

My first car was a Charade...

I liked the Pathfinder, tho I found it lacking in power for my tastes.

You can probably get into a minivan cheaper than an suv, with all the bells and whistles. My boss and his wife have one, and seriously considered a 2nd when it came time to replace his Expedition.

minivan will be much better for what you want to do. I dont honestly know of any SUV that offers 3 rows of seats nd isnt equipped with a minimum of a 350 smallblock V8. pretty much any minivan though will provide sufficient space, decent to great fuel economy and reasonably good power.

Acadia/Enclave/Outlook/Traverse 3 rows and a 275hp V-6
Highlander 3 rows V-6
Mazda CX-9 V-6
4Runner - V-6 but optional V-8
Freestyle 3 rows V-6
Explorer V-6 but optional V-8
Pilot V-6

There are a few others as well.

This is true.

However, except for the 4Runner and Explorer (not coincidentally, the only two offered in a V8) those are "crossovers".

A mini-van can do everything that a crossover can do, usually better.

V6 Ecoboost, and FWD/AWD.

Trying for increased mileage and comfort, negatives are reduced towing capacity.
That means that my choice for the woman's vehicle is now an Expedition.
