personally i like the show and the cause, but i laugh at a lot of the same things you guys point out.
What would be some better / more effective ways to handle it in your opinions?
keep in mind that they cannot use lethal force.

If these people were at the UN making an intelligent and reasoned pose on the whale's behalf, I'd be somewhat on their side. Provided their numbers and claims were legit...but gallivanting across the ocean preventing hard working men from making a living, endangering their lives and in many cases SHOWBOATING ..."look at me, I'm so fearless and heroic! ". Well, I, for one, have zero respect for them whatsoever...
What they should do is what is boring if they are going to sail out there. It would make boring TV, but they should just get behind the factory ship and sit there. Don't launch the helicopter and delta to paint the research sign, don't put pete on the whaler to go back to Japan. Just sit there and block the whale ramp. Whaling doesn't happen, no one is endangered. It would make crappy TV though because they would just putt around the southern ocean following the factory ship.

Yeah, no chance on changing the japanese. No chance in hell. Another group tried to go over to japan and talk to people there about dolphins or some kind of fish or something. They got run off and almost killed.

I wonder how difficult it is for the Japanese to refrain from mis-using their grenade tipped, rocket launched harpoons? I'd like the show better if they started using the harpoons against hippies. :lol:

The chopper use to be gold for them. They could find the japs quick with it. This season the bob barker got lucky and found them.

for the japs, only one I have found when I searched for the same thing. This is because whaling is internationally illegal for commercial purposes. Whaling for "scientific" purposes is legal. Which is what Japan and Norway say they are doing even though the research they need can be obtained in nonlethal fashion.

Yep we laugh at them and they'll be laughing all the way to the bank...
Pete getting on the shonan at night was pretty anti climatic.
Him waiting for daylight to reveal himself to the crew of the shonan so the heli could see him and then seeing the japanese guy telling him to go back where he came from was hilarious. They were completely clueless about how he got there. It was awesome.
It's incredibly sad this show is over. I will miss it til next summer. Hopefully the craziness goes up another level.

I think the adventure of the whole thing would be badass. Im so totally wanting to go do this sometime in the near future.
They are fucking up pretty bad this season. The Japs don't really have to do anything to them, they keep shooting themselves in the foot.
They prop fouled themselves trying to refuel the Gojira, the new stealth boat. About gave the diver hypothermia trying to cut the prop foul because of how cold the water was.
Looks like they lose the small boats in the next episode.
Good ole WTF faces are classic.

i can't believe how many problems they run into all by themselves. If they were actually on top of their shit it would a whole lot more watchable.
Plus, they had a year off to practice and R&D new weapons and they didn't... and they still suck.

I'm not watching the new episodes yet... probably wait for them on demand... hell they might be there, I didn't realize they were back on.
But I have always said, they need some ex-navy guys in there doin the shit... not these damn hippies that don't have a clue!
It seems they lost a lot of the "experienced" crew this season and rotated some of the ones they did have from previous seasons to new positions. They are doing worse than the first season they were on TV.
They are only 3 episodes in right now. They had two one hour shows air two weeks ago and one last week. Fridays at 9pm EST.

Yes, which is why I only watch reality TV that makes no bones about being about pathetic people; COPS. At least I can watch the Tasering of various dregs of humanity, on it, without it being played up as some great contest.

Agreed, stuf flik esurvivor is a joke, theres no way one will die of a venomous snake bite or get eaten by a tiger.
Thats what drew me to gold rush last season, a bunch of yahoos playing with heavy construction equipment. Figured there would be a good chance of dismemberment there. Now its all just a contest like deadliest catch or ice road truckers to see whos on the gold.

That's the best part of watching it, see their epic failness and complete surprise that they failed. If you watch this from an OSHA/worker/military perspective, you deserve to be made fun of... These aren't employees or military.

I don't think any boat on that show has not been hit by both sides at some point besides the new scout boat that almost got sunk by the rogue wave. Their big boats are both about the same size. They just knock each other around. Neither side really wants to go down in that water ramming each other.

Those boats still floatin'? If so, then they aren't making good use of that factory ship. Hell, the harpoons alone could make a good mess of the hulls. If there's no sinkin' goin' on, then why bother watchin'?

The factory ship is slow the other boats can out maneuver it and not get rammed that hard.
Japs need to quietly repeal their constitution and send a bunch of their diesel attack subs out to "protect" their shipping from piracy.
