I had one before my garage fire - works well, but like you said it's a very technique-intensive thing. Was a real bitch until I figured out what the hell I was doing!

Also, the Mojo or NoMar bar is a must for much easier changes without scratching. The static balancer is just fine too, IMO - it's exactly what the tire guys at the AMA superbike races use.
