ET's/Aliens yes or no?

I am under the impression that we do have alien tech, but the Govt' and Corps' want to keep it hidden because of our need for fossil fuels and petrol, uncovering this tech would mean profit and tax losses.

Assuming we do have any alien tech, or even just advanced human tech related to propulsion or energy, they are keeping it under wraps so they can develop military applications with it, as well as prevent other nations from exploiting it.

Even if it's a civilian scientist who comes out with tech like that, the government will most likely gang up on them and "persuade" them to take a government job with tons of support and fancy facilities ---- At the price of keeping their work secret.
