I have a few friends who have built them. They're nice and light, but you have to carry alcohol and since alcohol burns at a low temperature it takes a long time to heat anything up with them.
I prefer my esbit for when I'm really watching my weight.  When I'm not so worried about weight, I love my MSR Dragonfly.
