When you jump start it, be sure that the car is not running. Car's put out too much amperage out of their alternators and you can fry things in your bike.

Gasman is right about the jump starting... Just have a friend give you a push, dont have to get it going very fast to push start it.

I jumped my bike while the car was running once and nothing happened to it, but wat you said sounds right. Safe than sorry.
