Got GTA5, haven't played xbox or used it in awhile. Got 2 freeze ups and then the dreaded RRoD without ever getting past the first mission. Debating selling GTA5 instead of buying another console and waiting for the PC version.

Got ARMA 3 off steam as a Beta awhile back, it went full version and it is bad ass. Zooombies is a great mod. Need to build a new system for it. If you never played DayZ or ARMA 2, you should definitely check out ARMA 3.

Best Moto game ever. The physics are finally right. And they did tons of work on the "rider angle" camera view. It actually feels like you're racing the bike. Took a page out of Codemaster's F1 games as far as career mode depth. Buy it on Steam...

Wait for the R 290 cards to come out with new coolers first.

AMD R 290 @ $399 offers comparable performance to the GTX780 @$499
On top of that, the new crossfire setup on the R 290 cards is outstanding AND they are now tossing in Battlefield 4 in for free as part of their new bundle.

Only issue right now is that the reference R290 and R290x boards have shit coolers.

GTX780 is a great card and nicely built but I would definitely hold off for until AIB releases custom cards (end of November, early december).
You could build out your mega box but just use the onboard video for now.

If you just want to go all out, the a pair of GTX780ti's are the way to go unless you are pushing a huge 4k monitor. Then R290x (with aftermarket cooling) is the way to go

I call shennanigans on AMD.
With the reference coolers cards are throttling back because the the coolers cant keep up. On top of that, hot running cards, at that temp don't bode well for longevity (cheapskate me speaking who holds on to video cards way longer than most people). Toss in the fact that they are loud and obnoxious once temps pass certain thresholds. They need better coolers. They have always had shitty reference coolers and its usually worth waiting for the AIB partners to toss on better custom solutions.

After years on a GTX570 looking for a suitable replacement that offers a large enough jump to justify spending $$$ I dont blame you.

Every time I get the urge to replace it, reviews on the 7970 cards chased me away. It always starts of grand but always ends with "dead card"

The GTX780\Titan and GTX780ti are very nice designs and built well. However, I am going to see how the R290 turns out prior to dropping $500 on a GTX780. Much rather get the same performance for $100 cheaper.

Consoles will never blow PC away, it's just not possible. PC is always evolving, it's getting the newest most powerful setups as soon as they come out. Consoles are stuck to whatever is put in them at launch. You have already admitted you have no interest in PC, so you have really no knowledge of what they are capable of... I play both console and PC currently. PC has and will always dominate console gaming in the terms of technology. It's not even close to a fair competition. Consoles are extremely limited and have no upgrade capability.

Let's look at the next gen consoles and compare them to what they are in the computing world. The CPUs are based on tablet/laptop processors and the GPUs are similar to older Radeon GPUs in both of them. Something like a 7790 in the PS4 and 7870 in the Xbox One. If you think these can keep up with dual SLi 780 Tis in a i7 machine that is capable of running in 4k while the next gens are struggling to even do full 1080p, you need help.

Developers are having enormous trouble getting games to run at 1080p at 60fps on both consoles right now. Especially with the Xbox One. Most of the launch games are 720p. 1080p is pretty much the standard in a decent PC right now and most of them are running well over 60 fps at that 1080p.

I agree, I had this argument last night with sixxxxer on facebook. Best way I chose to describe it was Toyota vs Ferrari. Lots of people buy Toyotas and Toyota makes a ton of money. They are reliable, cheap, and a great daily driver. It's good for anyone who wants a decent vehilce. Ferrari is a much more specialized high end performance car. Not everyone needs or can afford it.

He just kept going around in circles about how consoles make more money. I said that from the beginning and that pc gamers were the minority. It was funny.

I have always been more inclined to go PC because of how great the level of simulation you can get on PC games vs console. Games like ARMA or the high end racing simulations just don't work on console. They are too boring for the 5 minute deathmatch crowd to absorb and for the consoles to be able to run smoothly.

That's the difference between a simulation gamer and a battlefield gamer. In simulation, you most likely won't be flying without a stick. Most people won't be flying anyway. The pilots will be exceptional, most people will be the grunts. The snipers aren't going to be some noob with a computer that cant render 2000m away where the snipers should be sitting.

FPS games control a lot better on PC, just look at how much more control with a mouse you have over a stick. You can't optimize the differences between the slow movement vs fast movement and how much freedom you have in space to move the mouse. The tiny difference between center stick and the end of movement of the stick just can't compete.

I still don't see what making more money has to do with this conversation. Selling more games doesn't make it any better. I freely admit PC gaming is a minority and makes less money. It still doesn't change the fact that gaming on a good PC is better in every way. It just is... If you can't afford a quality PC or don't want to spend the money on one just for gaming, that's fine, you are better off getting a console. It's cheaper and you will have a better experience than if you try to play on a machine that has shit framerate. I agree 100%. I've tried FPS games on consoles and really don't like it. I find the mouse/keyboard combo so much better to use than either a PS3 or Xbox controller. I haven't had a gaming PC in probably 8 years and except for a few brief attempts at console FPS games I haven't played them since.
